Educational Degree Bachelor’s degree (or comparable) in mechanical or a relevant engineering field e.g. aerospace, nautical etc. Additionally Required Knowledge / Skills ? Excellent ability with CAD systems in order to create 3D models and drawings. Ability to undertake simulations using FEA is a bonus. ? The ability to read, understand and interpret technical specification documents ? Ability to clearly and accurately communicate detailed requirements through preparation of documents ? Highly organised to be able to work independently and it is critical to have a thorough attention to detail. ? Driven with the ability to take the initiative to “make things happen”. Must be able to plan ahead and prioritise different activities to ensure that project schedules are met. ? Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, remaining professional at all times. ? MS office fluent ? Good engineering understanding: Must be able to understand fundamental engineering concepts and should also be able to work with mathematical models/calculations of physical systems such as forces, hydraulics, structures and dynamic systems such as spring-mass systems. ? Mathematical understanding: should have a working ability to perform basic calculations, interpret data, plot graphs and establish trends. ? Knowledge of mechanical / fluid handling equipment, ideally rotating equipment. ? Familiar with high pressure fluid systems including fittings, piping, flanges, instrumentation etc. ? Familiar with common engineering materials such as steels, bronzes, elastomers etc and heat treatment processes. ? Required Work Experience ? 5+ years’ experience in Engineering or Engineering Documentation role within Heavy Industry, Heavy rotating Industry or Pumps industry preferred. ? The engineer should be able to demonstrate clear evidence of undertaking highly bespoke design activities, in particular involving detailed specifications and documentation requirements.
