Key responsibilities: 89 Support teams to identify new suppliers in alignment with Tenneco requirements. 89 Actively participates in sourcing decision-making reviews with Sourcing Teams. 89 Implements the Global Purchasing & Supplier Development strategies, including supplier negotiations. 89 Supports global purchasing needs during supplier transitions, commodity and application teams for resourcing and new supplier launches. 89 Supports cross-functional launch teams by design/risk evaluations and technical supplier review meetings to assure form, fit, and function of product/assembly design intent. 89 Supports on-site supplier development to help suppliers improve their processes and achieve productivity and quality performance goals. 89 Utilizes standard supplier assessment and evaluation tools. Conduct supplier assessments and evaluations. Follow-up on improvements as required. 89 Tracks and monitors supplier quality performance 89 Conducts supplier audits when required to improve Tenneco’s MRS supply base in order to drive quality and productivity improvements at existing suppliers. 89 Supports Tenneco MRS plants and businesses on major supplier quality, -delivery and -cost issues. 89 Facilitates timely implementation of permanent corrective action and resolution for supplier related issues as assigned 89 Follows-up / monitors the APQP timeline and deliverables from kick-off through successful launch containment for assigned suppliers / project. 89 Teach suppliers on various problem solving methodology (8D, 5Why's, Is is-not, etc.) and launch processes (e.g. APQP, PPAP) Ideal candidate experience: 89 B.S. Degree in a related Business or Technical discipline; or equivalent experience. 89 3+ years related work experience in Supplier Development. Purchasing experience a plus. 89 Experience negotiating prices, terms and conditions. 89 Familiar with a range of materials and processes; e.g. steel, stamping, forging, machining, casting, cold heading, rubber, plastic, heat treating, and electromechanical products. 89 Experience with supplier assessment and audits, IATF and / or ISO audit certification desired. 89 APQP, PFMEA, MSA and Control Plan training and practical experience preferred. 89 Understands the process and tools of effective problem solving. 89 Good understanding of GD&T Skills and capabilities (leadership and/or functional): 89 Demonstrated ability and skills to support supplier development activities, continuous improvement initiatives and quality management tools. 89 Demonstrated self-starter and able to work independently, as needed to execute strategies to meet goals. 89 Strong team player with further demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams. 89 Proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint 89 Familiar with commercial management of a supplier. 89 Familiar with methodologies like 6 sigma, Lean manufacturing. Six Sigma certificate is a plus. 89 Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications. 89 Qualifications/ certifications: 89 Diploma or Bachelor’s in Engineering -Mechanical or Degree in Materials Management, or Logistics required. 89 Experience: 3- 5 Years 89 Advanced analysis skills and ability to present data and metrics. 89 Experience as Engineer Purchasing and product development, knowledge of Zero-base cost estimation 89 Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement and Materials Management related field with a preference towards high volume manufacturing related industries. 89 Communicate effectively to convey key concepts/strategies across organization groups and to executive management, functional & operational leaders and suppliers 89 The authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected 89 To achieve established objectives and targets and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard.
