The Assistant Form Tutor and Teacher of Lower School will: continually develop and contribute to all areas of school life: pastoral, academic, enrichment, extension, community, understand the importance of each of the five aims and support children in their personal holistic development, be fully aware of the school’s Safeguarding Policy and your role in keeping children safe in education, assist the Form Tutor with the pastoral care for a Form in the Lower School (G1-6), greet students at the gate at drop-off time and escort them to the classroom, escort children to pick-up or the appropriate bus stop at the end of the day, prepare the Form Room with work, seasonable displays, and artwork, report any maintenance and cleaning tasks to the Operations team at the earliest opportunity, always use English language when speaking with staff and students in school unless emergencies and clarity of learning objectives require the use of another language, work with the FT to prepare and deliver lessons in English, Global Perspectives and Wellbeing, support the teachers with the supervision of children and necessary translation, as required, in other subjects (Science & Technology, Dance, Drama or other disciples where language support is required), escort the children to swimming lessons and always remain available and vigilant (not using mobile phone etc.) to the potential needs of the class through the period, ensuring good behaviour during changing, escort the children to and from their Physical Education lessons, ensuring good behaviour during changing, assess student progress, mark work, and give feedback to children alongside the Form Tutor, contribute to the preparation, writing, checking, and publication of reports for parents, contribute alongside the Form Tutor at Parent-Tutor Conferences and meetings, prepare resources for teaching and learning, displays and newsletters, support the work of the Marketing Department with news articles, photography, student interviews etc., work with purchasing to place orders for equipment and consumables, as required, support the planning and management of trips, play an active role on expeditions and in experiential learning, as required by the school, assume the role of Young Pioneers Leader for your assigned Form, lead the children in your Form to Flag Raising and supervise them during the ceremony, be fully aware of all fire emergency evacuation procedures and play an active role in any fire drill or evacuation, escorting students quickly and quietly to the assembly point and registering them, complete assigned duties (snack time, break, lunch, after-school, boarding, bus) as assigned, be aware of the social, emotional, and physical needs of the children in your Form, providing them with the necessary care, attention, and guidance always, be fully supportive of the classroom rules and behavior standards and always uphold these, emphasizing them with the children, communicate with colleagues, visitors, children, and parents in a polite and supportive manner, accurately help in the writing of messages to parents of children in your Form, translate accurate letters and communications, and help in solving problems, attend all school based Professional Development programmes, work towards EDB certification to become a Teacher of Lower School (alongside being Assistant Form Tutor), and carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Head Master.
