PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Senior Materials Engineer serves as one of Molex’s key contributors in the field of metals technology. In a manner and direction consistent with the overall group vision and strategy, this individual is responsible for managing aspects of complex technical projects or programs related to materials or process technology invention, selection, specification, evaluation, deployment, failure analysis, and / or testing. The Senior Materials Engineer is also expected to support technology transfer and knowledge sharing with suppliers, external collaborators, and customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1、Deliver on various strategic project commitments configured to address the technical needs / opportunities identified through 1) direct engagement with internal stakeholders from product development and manufacturing, 2) group technology track roadmaps, and 3) other identified technical needs of the enterprise. 2、Support the product development and manufacturing teams with materials application engineering support, support on design reviews and new product development challenges, materials and manufacturing process related problem solving and failure analysis, and technical engagement with the raw material supply base. 3、Monitor relevant research and development activities in universities and industry through literature searches, seminars, conferences, supplier visits, and external courses. 4、Create, identify, and help secure intellectual property through patents, publications, and / or trade secrets. 5、Conduct problem solving and failure analysis consultations, including sample management, coordination of work activities with internal and external analysis / testing facilities, and reporting of results, conclusions, and recommendations. 6、Review and update existing Molex Engineering Specifications related to raw materials. Create new Engineering specifications and best practices as required to ensure strong and robust engineering practices related to raw materials and their processing enterprise wide. 7、Operate and maintain the pertinent experimental, analytical, and testing equipment when necessary. 8、Support management in the coordination and preparation of knowledge shares, technical seminars, and meetings. 9、Understand, support, and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures. 10、Understand, support the deployment and act in the position as a Global SME in the Molex Commercial Part Selection Process (CPSP) 11、Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 1、B.S. in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Engineering or similar technical specialty. 2、Theoretical and practical knowledge of all aspects of one or more subfields of metallurgy and their associated manufacturing processes, including stamping, coining, and/or machining. Prior experience with a range of materials test / analytical tools such as ICP, SEM/EDX, FIB, EBSD hardness, tensile testing, and metallography. This knowledge will have been acquired during a minimum of 3 years of relevant and progressively increasing job responsibilities. 3、Prior experience with project management, including the application of statistical tools, such as SPC and DOE, to practical problems or research programs. 4、Ability to lead, manage and successfully bring innovation projects to closure. 5、Ability to seek out and share knowledge to create high impact innovative solutions. 6、Ability to engage in academic and business settings. 7、Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems in an organized, logical, and effective manner even when confronted with limited information, significant uncertainties, or the necessity to consult with other experts. 8、Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams focused on meeting program objectives. 9、Ability and desire to travel and collaborate effectively with personnel from all regions / levels of the corporate organization, including interaction with external resources. 10、Writing and presentation skills that are consistent with the departmental and corporate standards for formalized communication, including project plans, final reports, problem solving tools, and executive reviews. 11、Considerable persuasion, tact, and negotiation skills utilized across departments and regions of the corporation. 12、Good working knowledge of PC’s and standard applications. 13、Excellent English language skills both spoken and written. 14、Mandarin mother/father tongue-level skill required.
