岗位职责: Job title: Officer (Professional Development in Teaching and Learning) Department: DTD-IEIP-VPTLO Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents. In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe. HKUST(GZ) comprises four Hubs, namely Function Hub, Information Hub, Systems Hub, Society Hub and 16 thrusts. The admission of undergraduate students begins in 2023, with the first batch of programs covering artificial intelligence, data science and big data technology and smart manufacturing engineering. HKUST(GZ) is located at *** Duxue Road, Qingsheng Hub Cluster, Nansha District, Guangzhou. The campus covers an area of about 1,669 mu (111.3 hectares) and is divided into two construction phases. The first phase covers an area of about 716 mu (47.7 hectares) with a floorage of about 636,000 square meters (63.6 hectares), which had been officially put into use in September 2022. The design of the campus blends natural scenery with architecture, with key cutting-edge technologies for energy conservation and environmental protection adopted during the design and construction process, in a bid to establish the campus as a new benchmark of green, smart and sustainable development. The Institute of Education Innovation and Practice (IEIP) reports to the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning (VPTL) and leads the pedagogy and curricular innovation and its implementation on campus. It conducts educational research, develops supporting policies, procedures and guidelines, monitors teaching and learning performance and provides relevant training to faculty members, staffs and students. IEIP also organize high-level conferences and workshops by inviting world renowned scholars and experts with expertise in education to foster greater understanding of education sector, bridge closer ties, and more productive exchanges with peer universities. Under the umbrella of IEIP, the Department of Teaching Development(DTD) is responsible for promoting excellence and innovation in teaching at HKUST(GZ), the support and advancement of active and outcome-based learning, teaching practices, and the professional development of all members of the campus teaching community, and encouraging a university culture with faculty, graduate students, and administrators that values and rewards teaching, respects and advances individual differences among learners. The Officer for Department of Teaching Development(DTD) is primarily responsible for the administration and coordination of programs, courses, and projects in professional development for university-wide faculty members and Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). Responsibilities 1. Coordinate and facilitate the development of the professional development programs, courses, and projects. 2. Assist in the development and innovation of the university-wide teaching training and learning efforts. 3. Support the establishment of an institutional teaching reward system for teaching in professional development awards and accreditation internally and externally. 4. Provide service to university-wide faculty and GTA consultation services in professional development related issues and concerns. 5. Responsible for other duties designated in relation to professional development. 任职要求: 1. Master degree in Higher Education Administration or related field, at least three years’ experience in teaching professional development or higher education administration. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Bachelor’s degree may be considered with demonstrated competence. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of professional development or teacher education. Knowledge and experience of teaching accreditation is an advantage. 3. Open-minded and enjoy working in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. 4. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. 5. Be passionate in teaching and learning, be proactive and take the initiative at work, be a dynamic and self-directed learner, and be competent in managing multiple assignments simultaneously. This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations.
