Core Responsibility According to needs of the school, to teach IGCSE and/or IB Diploma Program (Grade 11 & 12) classes in a way that will enable the students to gain a commitment to, skills in, and a thorough knowledge of the subject(s). Position Demands A subject specialist must hold an appropriate qualification and teaching certification; a minimum of two years teaching experience; experience in teaching IGCSE & the IB Diploma Program and ability to use technology to facilitate teaching and learning will be an advantage; dedication to the job, subject‐specific expertise, student‐centered teaching approaches, the ability to apply differentiation in the classroom, effective classroom management as well as good relations with students, staff and parents are the qualities sought. Working Relationships 61 working with the Programme Coordinator and head of Department on all curriculum related matters, the IB Coordinator for all IB related matters, the IGCSE Coordinator on all IGCSE related matters, the Dean of Students on matters related to pastoral care and student well-being, and to the CAS Coordinator in planning and/or supervising CAS activities; 61 cooperating with other members of the faculty, regarding the development of academic planning, and good practices; liaising with other members of staff to manage the work of the students; 61 Working with the University Counseling Team in providing timely predicted grades and references; 61 fulfilling other pastoral and co‐curricular responsibilities as assigned; keeping external contacts with professional associations, universities and libraries as appropriate. Main Duties and Responsibilities The teacher is required to: 61 Update the syllabi, weekly planning documents and unit plans for the delivery of relevant syllabi; 61 Plan lessons that facilitate active learning experiences and are student centered; 61 Each homeroom is assigned one local staff to support students. Foreign staff will work closely with the mentor and students to communicate with parents; 61 Staff will undertake additional duties, such as monitoring hallways and other such areas, supervising assembly practices, and/or being responsible for lights and sounds for assemblies; 61 supervise/lead CAS and other after-school activities throughout the year as selected by the teacher or assigned by the CAS Coordinator, teachers are to take a minimum of 2 CAS activities per year; 61 Supervise Extended Essays writing where needed; 61 Provide extra classes and/or tutoring sessions once a to support individual students; 61 assist students with their homework or organize study-related activities in the assigned evenings on a rotational basis as a full-time teacher (evening activities take place between 19:00-21:10); 61 set and mark both classwork and internal examinations (including AIC Entrance Exams as appropriate); 61 maintain a record of grades and attendance on Managebac system, and complete reports by due dates assigned; 61 provide feedback appropriately and regularly to students; 61 mark and provide students with additional guidance and/or work according to their needs; 61 follow the daily routine which starts at 7:25 am and ends at 16:50 pm; the school generally ends at 15:30pm on Fridays; 61 attend punctually all Staff, Faculty and Departmental meetings, and be prompt to classes; 61 produce lists of books and equipment required for the teaching of the subject; 61 compile a full set of emergency lessons for use by a cover teacher; 61 follow AIC IT Acceptable User Policy (AUP) (to be provided); 61 use technology to facilitate teaching and learning in line with the school expectations; 61 maintain a smart casual standard of dress as outlined in the school’s dress code; 61 maintain an atmosphere which is conducive to learning in and out of the classroom; 61 obtain ongoing training in the subject and syllabi by attending workshops, courses etc.; 61 perform any other duties as may be required by the Head of School, for the benefit of the school.
