The Sr Manager, Procurement –Electrical & Mechanical OEM , Particle Optics owns category management for mechanical category encompassing multiple site locations, divisions and groups. Ensures that the category strategy is aligned with the functional/business objectives and work closely with Division Business Partners, Quality, Operations, R&D, and Business leaders to ensure category strategies are aligned cross functionally. Leads a Category team responsible for strategic sourcing activities and supplier management functions. Builds organizational strength, create robust sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements, manage strategic supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement year over year savings.
What will you do?
Scale of Responsibilities
61 Connects key categories to relevant Thermo Fisher business divisions ensuring alignment of strategies and financial targets
61 Accountable for the multi-year category strategy and plan objectives, timelines, and goals
61 Analyzes cross-divisional spending and develops strategic sourcing plans to reduce the total cost of ownership for all business units
61 Demonstrates a measurable reduction in year over year total cost of ownership for the goods and services being sourced without compromising quality and service levels
61 Considers financial planning, forecasting, P&L performance, inventory, cash flow, tariffs and inflation to inform strategy
Technical Responsibilities
61 Provides thought leadership in developing and implementing sourcing strategies
61 Champions the use of structured Category Management process to develop category strategies including diversity, sustainability and risk assessment and business continuity
61 Uses AQSCIR (Assurance, Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation, Regulatory) method to develop and drive 3 to 5 year sourcing strategies focused on identifying and contracting with suppliers that meet category management goals
61 Communicates plans and progress to Enterprise colleagues
61 Runs the contracting process and lead coordination with Legal to ensure relationships are appropriately documented
61 Leads the supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply base management process
61 Assesses market intelligence for key trends, and uses predictive analytics to make risk mitigation recommendations to the business
61 Drives supplier consolidation through engaging and supporting Division Business Partners and Group Procurement Operations (e.g. sourcing engineers) to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliers
Leadership Responsibilities
61 Works under the direction of Director, drives adoption of sourcing strategies across the enterprise and ensures ongoing cross team collaboration
61 Champions use of eSourcing, Spend Visibility, and P2P tools company-wide
61 Works with Division Business Partners and functional colleagues to gather business requirements for category strategy development
61 Create and maintain a communication mechanism to ensure coordination with internal colleagues and reporting of sourcing impact
61 Leads a Category Team, develops staff to create expertise in both the areas of spend being managed and in strategic sourcing processes
61 Mentors and develops staff through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvement
61 Implements talent initiatives to improve Employee Involvement Survey results
How will you get here?
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
61 Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate Degree in Business (Preferred), Finance, and/or Technical field
61 Minimum 8 years’ of procurement/sourcing experience with increasing responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment, minimum 6 years’ experience in the assigned category
61 3+ years experience managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management
61 Strong leadership and effective business partnering capabilities – influence without authority
61 Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex organization
61 Strong negotiation and presentation skills
61 Strong knowledge of the strategic sourcing and category management process
61 Strong project management skills
61 Requires ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information
61 Capable of working across all functions and levels of an organization
61 International experience (plus) – working experience in different countries/regions/languages
