Summary: iRobot is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Test.62 This software test engineer will create test plans and define test approach, lead and execute test efforts. and work with the software development team to design and implement software test approaches/mechanisms. This engineer will also develop and automate tests for continuous regression testing.62 A successful candidate will have a passion for quality, testing, delivering great products – all, while inventing the future.62 62 Software Test (SWT) – Mission Statement -- Plan and execute software focused testing to quickly identify defects early in the development and integration process, reduce regression and configuration testing time through automation, and confirm that the product functions as intended. Lead the project teams from planning, execution, and reporting the result throughout the software development cycle.
Essential Functions/ Job Duties: 61 Work within Agile framework to plan and execute work. 61 Lead project teams from planning through delivery. 61 Strong communication both within team and in delivering results, issues, status outside the team. 61 Develop, enhance and execute automated tests and frameworks. 61 Influence software design through early development interface to maximize testability and automation potential. 61 Work side-by-side with developers and functional testers to create test specifications from user stories/requirements and transform selected tests into an automated test suite. 61 Triage defects and effectively communicate parameters to developers for rapid reproduction and fix. 61 Develop test plan and procedures for testing new products and sustaining efforts. 61 Install / setup of test environment. 61 Prioritize automation and manual efforts. 61 Effectively communicate results and issues to developers, managers and program through direct communication, use of bug tracking system, triage abilities, etc. 61 Provide mentorship and coaching to test execution resources for running tests (manual and automated) and collecting results. 61 Promote and implement automation capabilities throughout the entire software development lifecycle including, functional, performance, scale and stress.
