Position Overview: We are seeking an English & Public Speaking Instructor to join our training program for Chinese international and bilingual school students. This role is designed for individuals passionate about second language acquisition, and speech training, aiming to help students develop confidence in English-speaking environments. The instructor will guide students in mastering public speaking and debate, preparing them for academic competitions and international discourse. Key Responsibilities: 1. English Public Speaking & Debate Instruction Teach structured courses focusing on public speaking, debate strategies, and persuasive writing. Develop students' pronunciation, intonation, and speech clarity, addressing common challenges for Chinese speakers learning English. Train students to adapt their speech style when communicating with international audiences, emphasizing linguistic pragmatics and discourse strategies. 2. Cross-Cultural Communication Teach students to recognize cultural variations in persuasion and argumentation, balancing traditional Chinese debate styles with international formats. Provide constructive feedback on language pragmatics, helping students fine-tune their speeches to align with global public speaking norms. 3. Competition Preparation & Performance Coaching Prepare students for domestic and international debate competitions, including World Schools, British Parliamentary, and Model United Nations (MUN). Conduct mock debates and speech rehearsals, offering linguistic and rhetorical analysis of student performances. Provide real-time language support and corrective feedback, helping students enhance fluency, coherence, and audience engagement. 4. Educational Material Development & Curriculum Enhancement Design culturally responsive teaching strategies to facilitate English language acquisition through debate and public speaking activities. Collaborate with other instructors and language specialists to refine pedagogical approaches for multilingual students. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or current graduate student in English Education, Communication, or a related field. Strong background in English public speaking, debate coaching, or language teaching with a focus on second language learners. Understanding of cross-cultural communication theories and linguistic challenges faced by Chinese speakers learning English. Experience working with bilingual or international school students is preferred.
