RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Applies Tennant’s New Product Development process and principles of engineering and science to lead the development of product designs at the machine and subsystem level that achieve customer requirements, company standards, government regulations and cost targets. 2. Partners closely with and Product Management, Program Management, System Engineering Teams, and external partners to achieve program goals. 3.Leads Systems Engineering teams including those in Mechanical, Electrical, & Software domains. 4.Leads in the development of overall product system architecture. 5.Establishes machine and subsystem development plans and schedules from concept to production launch within overall business requirements. 6.As engineering project lead, tracks and reports progress to the cross-functional program leaders and engineering management 7.Responsible for preliminary layouts, models, sketches and/or schematic diagrams to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems and communicating this to all project stakeholders. 8.Leverages laboratory and field test data to understand and manage design trade-offs. 9.Leads team to create designs, specifications, and drawing releases. 10. Leads and participates in formal/informal design reviews. 11.Supports planning of machine and subsystem verification and validation testing. 12.Supports the production launch and implementation of product and subsystem designs. 13.Lead and mentors’ junior engineers and designers throughout the development cycle. SKILLS 1. Fluency in both English and Mandarin required for effective written & spoken communications across global product development teams 2. Self-starter, able to successfully manage ambiguous design tasks when solutions are not known. 3. Broad technical knowledge in the design and development of electro-mechanical and software-controlled systems. 4. Systems V-Model including Verification & Validation (V&V) planning through utilization of DVP&R (Design Verification Planning & Reporting) 5. Requirements Engineering including Systems & Requirements Decomposition 6. Electro-Mechanical Systems Architecture, Concept Downselection, & Product Design 7. Risk Management including FMEA (Failure Mode Effects and Analysis) 8. Problem Solving Methodologies including 8D, Ishikawa Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys 9. Ability to analyze result from engineering system models that aid in simulation of system performance and behaviors 10. Ability to effectively present information to a variety of internal and external groups including in both English and Mandarin. 11. Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited four-year college or university is required at a minimum. 2. Technical project leadership experiences across Mechanical, Electrical, & Software domains teams is required. 3. Six to Ten years of electro-mechanical design engineering experience preferred 4. Minimum three years of experience with electro-mechanical systems integration required. 5. Minimum two years of product development experiences with native English-speaking product development teams preferred. 6. Experiences in systems integration across multiple systems such as battery power management systems, steering control systems, machine propel and braking systems, human user interface (HMI) control systems, solution/fluid delivery systems, air flow & filtration systems, motorized mechanisms, robotic & autonomy systems preferred. 7. Experience in requirements decomposition, development, authoring, and verification preferred. 8. Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. Visure, DOORs, Jama) and interface control documentation preferred. 9. Experience with task management and issues tracking tools (e.g. Jira) preferred. 10. Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus.
