The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and components consistently meet DOREL’s quality specifications and requirements by closely monitoring the production processes and quality performance of products, suppliers and subcontractors, supporting quality tasks for NPD projects, and liaising with the other quality pillars within DJAPO and DOREL’s Juvenile Global Markets:
Support SQE Supervisor, to establish and manage the designated objectives, goals and KPI's, and report progress periodically to the SQE Supervisor and/or QA manager and/or Quality Director if required.
Work proactively with performance results to ensure the supplier quality compliance and to drive for continuous quality improvement for Dorel Juvenile Global Markets: 1)Ensure that during NPD stage that all relevant product specification/documentation, approval (reference) samples, Design Validation Plan, quality control plans etc. are available and fully reviewed & understood. 2)Responsible for leading & completing all quality tasks during all NPD stages, including concept study, EP, FEP, RTP, PP, etc. 3)Ensure products and components meets Dorel Juvenile Quality Requirements by performing Pre-Shipment Inspection, Soft Launch Audit, and/or Process Audit based upon the designated inspection sampling plan, AQL levels, relevant product specification and quality requirements and approval (reference) samples. 4)Responsible for carrying out production and quality control process audits at suppliers and or sub-suppliers and sub-contractors as per the audit plan approved by the SQE Supervisor and to work closely with the suppliers to address deviations and or non-conformances and to drive for continuous quality improvement. 5)Ensure all quality assurance related reports are accurate, distributed on time and records are maintained and up to date within the designated system. 6)In the event of product and or process non-conformance as from inspection, audit, customer complaints and/or division’s incoming inspection (NCR), SQE is responsible for following NCR/CAR procedure to work with vendor and other pillars within DJC on root cause identification, Corrective and Preventive actions (CAP) driving, approval and implementation verification. 7)Evaluate product performance via RGD reports and consumer/customer feedback analysis and liaise with Suppliers and DJAPO pillars to drive and ensure continuous quality improvement through implementation of corrective and preventive actions 8)Verify, at time of inspection or audit that any product changes such as ECN are implemented in accordance with the agreed timeframe and confirm back to the relevant ECN issuer. 9)Assist in the development of, and support suppliers in, the implementation of quality improvement strategies and goals as set by DJAPO or Dorel Juvenile Global Divisions. 10)Provide support to DJAPO Engineering and Suppliers for the development and implementation related improvement of processes, such as process control plans, work station instructions and quality control best practices. 11)Verify and ensure implementation QMS CAP’s at suppliers 12)Teaches and drives supplier Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) compliance 13)Implement essential quality concepts & tools within supply base Level knowledge & experience 1. College Degree/Technical Degree or above 2. Experience with Juvenile Products, Toys, Sewing, or Textile is preferred 3. Knowledge of fabric, sewing manufacturing, and/or component or assembly manufacturing processes. 4. Over 2-years working experience in Quality related field/NPD is a must. 5. Good understanding and working experience in Quality assurance and Quality improvement 6. Knowledge and experience of applying statistical tools and methods to problem solving in a quality or process improvement area 7. Knowledge and experience of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing are preferred 8. Self-starter and ability to work independently 9. Proficient in English reading and writing. Good spoken English desired 10. Knowledgeable in the use of the Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
