Purpose of the position:
Drive continuous improvement of the site through productivity project work and the introduction of new products. Utilize technical skills in trouble shooting efforts and general plant support as needs arise. Provide process engineering expertise in support of e-MOC, OPHR and technical risk management.
Key job responsibilities:
? Identify, develop and execute plant productivity projects to drive improvements in the areas of production capacity and cost reduction
? Generate scope of work documents for small capital projects and provide follow up technical support to enable execution by Project Engineering
? Ensure the successful introduction of new products. Partner with R&D, asset management and plant operations to plan/coordinate the introduction. Prepare appropriate technical transfer documentation, train plant staff and provided technical direction. Evaluate and prepare plant assets to receive the new technology. Provide engineering support for trial manufacturing runs.
? Provides process engineering support to the environmental function particularly the permitting process
? Initiates and drives to completion e-MOC in support of assigned projects or as needed elsewhere
? Participate in or lead site hazard/operability (HAZOP) reviews in support of assigned projects or as needed elsewhere
? Provide process engineering and technical support to plant operations including troubleshooting efforts as need arise
? Participate in the preparation and execution of operating plant hazard reviews (OPHR) including the timely completion of assigned projects/actions resulting from the reviews
? Support site-level needs -- OpTech management, utilities, site development, regional work (like M&A evaluations or CM), etc.), provide assistance and coverage as needed in Amines or TEDA facility.
? Assistance in meeting or exceeding established year on year productivity goals established for the plant
? Successful execution of new product introductions to enable the plant to meet business growth targets
? Independent identification of new improvement opportunities in the areas of capacity and cost reduction
? Continued development of process engineering skills through heavy involvement in a variety of site activities which include but are not limited to plant hazard reviews, routine/non-routine plant support, troubleshooting efforts and participation in trial manufacturing run
Qualifications:
? The minimum requirements are a Bachelor. degree in Chemical Engineering and more than 10 years of relevant work experience. Beneficial work experiences include support of optimization and productivity initiatives within operations, continuous improvement/Lean or Six Sigma training, production engineering, process engineering, or process R&D engineering.
? Comfort working in a plant environment. Position requires working on the plant floor directly with plant engineers, operations and maintenance staff on a regular basis
