Legend Biotech is seeking a Senior/Principal Scientist, Lipid Synthesis and LNP Formulation as part of the Research & Development team based in Nanjing, China.
Role Overview The individual will lead the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) delivery effort to support Legend in vivo pipeline development. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based nucleic acid delivery in gene and cell therapy. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the LNP platform and support development of in vivo cell therapy and precision genetic medicine. The candidate will work closely with the Discovery, Gene Editing, Analytical, and CMC teams to advance our pipeline into development. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced and highly dynamic Biotech environment with the goal of bringing in vivo cell and gene therapy to patients.
Key Responsibilities 61 Build and optimize targeted LNP (tLNP) platforms for tissue-specific mRNA delivery and/or CAR insertion. 61 Design lipids and optimize LNP formulations for specific organs/cell types 61 Develop novel lipid formulations to improve stability, targeting, and payload delivery efficiency 61 Collaborate with Discovery, Gene Editing, Analytical, and CMC teams to advance pipeline programs 61 Lead external partnerships with CROs and academic institutions to accelerate program milestones. 61 Prepare technical documents for regulatory filings (e.g., IND/CTA) and support IP prosecution. 61 Stay updated on LNP advancements and integrate novel technologies into pipeline programs
Requirements 61 PhD in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology 61 2+ years of experience in LNP development for RNA delivery or gene editing therapies. 61 Experience in targeted LNP (tLNP) technology (tissue-specific delivery) 61 Hands-on experience with LNP formulation optimization (e.g., microfluidics, lipid synthesis) and Knowledge of novel lipid design, biomaterial conjugation, and analytical characterization (DLS, HPLC, TEM). 61 Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills 61 Experience in managing external partners/CROs and driving joint projects 61 Experience in CAR delivery systems or in vivo cell therapy (preferred) 61 Familiarity with regulatory requirements for gene therapy products (preferred)
