University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Life Science and Healthcare Technician Your Responsibility Your key responsibilities include: Provide specialist technical support to academics, researchers, and fellows dealing with Bioscience and Microbiology research, with particular regard to bio-safety level-1 and level-2 (BSL 1 and BSL-2) microorganisms and cell lines, Plan and oversee the day-to-day running of biology and bioscience laboratories, Allocating resources and providing technical support/supervision/training in the use of equipment and techniques in the area of Microbiology and Bioscience research to relevant staff/students to ensure objectives are met, Upkeep of designated research laboratories as well as the use and maintenance of equipment/facilities, Monitor and maintain Health and Safety in the performance of all duties by assessing the risks of the planned activity and performing the tasks having considered, and acted to secure the safety of yourself and others. About You You should have a Bachelor’s/master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioscience, Microbiology, or Chemical Engineering, with at least 2 years post graduate work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role, You should have previous relevant laboratory experience, with the ability to undertake a range of technical support activities,such as operate, maintain, and solve problems related to laboratory equipment and facilities, You should have knowledge of the Bioscience and Microbiology laboratory practice, protocols, and national regulations (e.g.BSL-2 laboratory requirement, bio-safety protocols, national and international transfer of biological material, bench-scale Microbiology and Bioscience.) You should have experience in project management, ability to plan and manage the projects on schedule and within limited resources. You should have strong self initiative, can-do attitude, proven analytical and problem-solving skills. You should have excellent teamwork, coordination and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with senior colleagues, academic members and other stakeholders.
