A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing cost estimation, cost control, contract administration, and ensuring that projects both millwork and GC are completed within budget. The Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in the construction industry by helping stakeholders manage costs effectively.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Cost Estimation: ? Prepare detailed cost estimates for millwork and construction projects. ? Keep updated company prices database ? Prepare bidding documentation and review costs with suppliers and subcontractors. ? Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine materials, labor, and equipment costs. ? Suggest value engineering solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality. ? Evaluate alternative materials, construction methods, and technologies to reduce expenses. ? Consider market conditions, location, and project complexity when estimating costs. 2. Risk Management: ? Identify potential risks and issues that may affect project costs. ? Develop risk mitigation. 3. Cost Control: ? Identifying cost-saving opportunities and cost overruns. ? Implement cost control measures to keep projects within budget. ? Prepare cost reports at the end of the project. ? Estimate and review change orders costs
4. Stakeholder Communication: ? Participate in the budget construction and forecasting ? Communicate project cost-related information to stakeholders, including owners, contractors, and project managers. The responsibilities may be subject to change based on company decisions.
Qualifications: ? Bachelor's degree in Construction Economics/Management/Engineering or a related field (professional certifications are a plus). ? Proven 3 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the decoration or construction industry. ? Proficiency in excel, quantity surveying software, CAD software or related tools. ? Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards. ? Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. ? Strong negotiation and communication skills. ? Detail-oriented and highly organized. ? Ability to work independently and in a team. ? Knowledge of relevant millwork, decoration and construction regulations. ?
