Position Purpose The Product Designer will be working on components and sub-system design within targeted scope/cost/quality, continuous product design improvement, and drawings/BOMs creation & maintenance, for tower & coil product lines.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities: ? Create 3D models, 2D drawings, Bill of Material, and release / change parts and BOMs in ERP system, complying with global design standard. ? Lead the product/components drawings creation work for the Automated sheet metal production line introduction project, coordinate with Global team to ensure the product design is going well. It may need to travel abroad for a couple of months. ? Coordinate and manage the partners/contractors to support the global design & production for Automated sheet metal project. Support the components design related troubleshooting for this project. ? Continuous product improvement for global products, create designs that consider all product variation within the Engineer Change Requests and minimize part count/product cost. ? Lead design concept test activities to validate the design, prepare the test report, need travel periodically to BAC manufacturing plant when concept built and test. ? Create and maintenance engineering document, such as assembly reference drawing, rigging & assembly manual, operation & maintenance manual. ? Provide technical support internally and externally for Customer, Sales, Marketing, Application, Manufacturing and Warranty Services. It may need occasional travels within short period domestically or abroad.
Knowledge & Skills ? Good speaking & writing English. Can participate in or lead English conference call with global project team. ? Proficiency in 3D modeling software. (Such as Inventor, Pro-E, Solidworks, UG, etc, Inventor is preferred.) ? Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD (or equivalent). ? Autodesk Inventor/Vault experience is a plus. ? Experience of sheet metal design, and how it pertains to manufacturability on sheet metal fabrication equipment (NC, Brake, Laser, etc.) ? Thorough understanding of manufacturing capabilities in sheet metal parts and assembly line. ? Proficiency with excel use. ? DFMA design (design for manufacturing & assembly) ? Ability to interpret market-based requirements (from a project specification or other sources) and develop designs to meet those needs with minimal iterations; understand the details inherent in such requirement. ? Problem solving, able to identify potential design failure, able to design and execute the verification plan. ? Basic knowledge of engineering mechanics.
