Job Purpose: A job holder at this position is fully responsible for product development, innovation or relevant technology development. Lead innovation projects, competency building, as well as other R&D or business application developments to bring value for Borouge products and its customers. The role holder is a technical leader to work across functions or regions in ideation/concept design, material formulation development, process development, and performance evaluation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Job Specific Accountabilities
Product development and management -Lead compound-based product and technology development with responsibility of recipe design, product development, performance validation, or technical trouble-shooting to ensure successful delivery of new products or applications. -Manage innovation and development projects or assignments to enable successful delivery of milestones, targets within controllable timeframe to fulfil customer demand. -Participate or be involved in base resin development in Innovation Centre and Manufacturing Plant in Ruwais, enable successful delivery of milestones and targets in co-operation with other global functions. -Scout and qualify new technologies in raw materials or compounds from the market, conduct technical external projects and studies supporting in-house innovation. -Lead or participate technical claim investigations, including reporting and conclusions on customer complaints within own area -Support to application evaluations, optimisation and quality / performance approvals of compounds
People management -Manage a team of product development specialists to ensure their responsibilities are defined and understood in order to achieve goals and objectives; -Lead and coach project team to deliver results according to project plans and targets -Manage PD resources to ensure effective development and technical service to internal customers. -Responsible for development of own personnel -Develop continuously the technical/scientific competencies of the group and make sure that the group is continuously up to date on scientific and patent literature -Ensure that their team is highly motivated -Builds a team containing the required skills and behaviours and initiates plans for succession. -Provide technical training to internal (BUs) and external (customers, value chain members) stakeholders

Business Strategies & Practices -Contribute to the proper cascade of Borouge, and respective Functional / Departmental strategies, policies, and practices of the vision and long-term strategy for Borouge, and contribute to the overall process of corporate governance, management and decision making to ensure the organization maximizes returns to its shareholders. -Lead the implementation of the function's Business Strategy, ensuring that the overall business goals are fully adhered by the team. -Monitor the team’s performance in relation respective contribution towards the company’s and functional long- and short-term plans, functional objectives, and in line with established service levels.
Operations Supervision -Manage the outputs and all expectations by the team. Empower, recommend, and motivate the team towards uplifting their competencies in relation with their occupations and projects. -Derive and empower the team to ensure proper working environment according to the company culture. -Control expenditure against approved functional budget on a regular basis and investigate & reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control -Spearhead the Team through staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing successors. -Lead the team to make sure accomplishment of all tasks by conducting regular short and weekly meetings. -Provide the team with support and guidance in relevance to all activities, policy and procedures
Processes & Systems -Implement approved the respective policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs. -Perform analysis on the respective processes and activities to ensure timely availability of the data analysis within the respective area. -Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives. -Provide with feedback on updating and implementation of new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of processes. -Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Minimum Qualification -Graduate (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills -Minimum 8, preferably 10 years relevant industrial experience, especially in automotive and appliances -Minimum 4, preferably 6 years’ experience in managing a team of scientists / engineers -Familiar in polyolefin polymerization, product, and processing -Excellent knowledge of base resin, functional filler, additives, etc. -Solid understand of formulation, process, property and performance -Broad knowledge of plastic markets and applications -Broad knowledge of polymeric material testing, analytical techniques and equipment -Excellent communication and presentation skills -Skilled in planning, prioritization, coaching, feedback -Skilled in problem-solving -Good knowledge of patenting process and patent writing -Fluency in English and Mandarin, both oral and written
