Role Purpose: Establish, prioritize, & execute a project portfolio that delivers and manages both inventories of dies and hardware, as well as performance to meet business objectives. Develop & deploy in-depth technical die and extrusion understanding to solve problems by creating and institutionalizing advanced understanding in core technology areas. Key Responsibilities: Establish a strategy & portfolio that brings engineering & innovation solutions to meet business needs. Be an advocate to pull in new technologies into extrusion plants for die performance improvement, cost, and inventory reduction. Integrate with the Die Business Teams to form common technology approach & priority. Lead the die & hardware ordering & management and daily production support. Lead die cost and inventory reduction as well as performance improvement activities Lead new die technology introduction, experiment, and meet targeted performance in quality, cost, and delivery. Work with die manufacturing center on issue die investigation and with forming team on issue die test. Interpret business needs & incorporate them into die business needs (i.e. die power model, 24 month rolling forecast, etc.). Integrate the die details with management needs to form a well-articulated & executable plan. Engage with the division planners to clarify and adjust direction based on the demand. Performance Metrics: Lowest cost manufacturing On-time product launch; on-time product/process validation Die and hardware spending to forecast. Project management metrics (scope, cost, time) Extrusion & Die Quality Attributes (Hit rate, footage, etc.) Cost reduction Die inventory management (DOS, turns, etc.) Designed experiments that provide fundamental understanding; systems in place that sustain understanding.
