BASIC FUNCTION Perform Packaging cost out opportunity in a target-oriented manner through VAVE methodology and total cost analysis. Work with cross functional teams to identify the Faucets and Kitchens Products for packaging cost out, analyze and execute cost reduction VAVE projects. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Perform cost out opportunity mining exercises by pareto analysis, competitor benchmarking and tear down, operations/distribution center site visits, etc. Apply VAVE methodologies and tools to identify cost reduction opportunities. Perform total cost benefit analysis and finalize annualized savings for given projects. Develop alternative design concept prototypes and CAD drawings using design software. Coordinate the development and verification testing of alternative designs. Create/update BOMs, submit engineering change requests and release the revised designs in Windchill and SAP. Work with cross functional teams to ensure packaging changes are compliant with regional/global packaging regulations, operations processes, internal packaging standards, sustainability goals, and customer requirements. Create/update internal packaging standards as required. RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Sr Manager – Engineering, Packaging ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Frequent engagement and collaboration with: Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, Sourcing, Marketing, Quality and EXTERNAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS: Frequent engagement and collaboration with suppliers EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering A minimum of 4 years related work experience in execution of cost reduction VA/VE, Continuous Design Improvement projects. Demonstrated ability to drive solid engineering-based solutions to complex problems. Proficient knowledge of manufacturing processes of all packaging material types such as corrugated, honeycomb, molded pulp, foams, films, wood, sustainable materials (reusable, recyclable, compostable). Basic knowledge of product materials and manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, brass/zinc casting processes, steel stamping and fabrication processes, compression molding, etc preferred but not required. Demonstrated expertise to apply DFM principles (manufacturability, assembly, safety, cost) to packaging design. Must have good communication skills to work globally with cross function teams. Fluent in English language preferred Proficient in ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator, CAPE, PTC Creo Software & MS Office tools.
