Principal Accountabilities:

- Financial Accounting – Responsible for financial accounting for local entities ensuring adherence to accounting standards, policies and procedures in order to deliver an accurate and timely monthly financial statement.
- Transactional Processing:
- Invoices and Purchase Orders – Responsible for the accurate and prompt processing of invoices, purchase orders, cash payments and receipts through the relevant purchase ledger
- Employee Expenses - Responsible processing and payment of employee expenses in a timely and accurate manner whilst complying with relevant policies to ensure consistency
- Payments - Responsible for processing weekly payment runs ensuring all controls are adhered to. This includes ensuring that all payments are raised and authorised in line with relevant policies and processes.
- Ledger control – Responsible for prompt and accurate reconciliation of ledgers (including cash, purchase and receivables ledgers) and maintaining “clean” ledgers including clearing aged items, investigating and clearing debit balances on purchase ledger and credit balances on receivables ledger and reporting these through KPIs
- Credit Review – Responsible for the credit management of customers in region to ensure timely collection of cash, to minimise Group credit risk and comply with Group procedures, collating information for the Senior Regional Accountant or more senior team members to approve credit checks/credit limit changes.
- Regional Compliance – Responsible for ensuring local compliance with Group processes and procedures (i.e. expenses, procurement and general GAM compliance)
- Audit (Internal and External) - Responsible for supporting Audit, including liaison with auditors and the preparation of audit package in order to ensure reporting requirements are met.
Where applicable for the role (site specific)
- Shared responsibility for the training and development of more junior members of the team.

Experience:

- Fluent in Japanese and English (written and verbal)
- Working knowledge of MS tools and finance ERP systems
- Progressive knowledge of local accounting and tax legislation at part-qualified level and working towards higher attainment (Prior knowledge of Japanese accounting and tax legislation is advantageous)
