Your tasks and responsibilities:
61 You will identify and develop data science use cases that bring business value to Covestro
61 You are responsible for the implementation of data science use cases in various areas such as production, sales/marketing and finance. This requires close collaboration with colleagues from the business units and from Machine Learning Engineering
61 You will play a crucial role throughout the entire lifecycle of data science products, including exploratory data analysis, development and implementation of prototypes, minimum viable products (MVP) and minimum marketable products (MMP), as well as in supporting the products in the operational phase
61 Specifically for each of your use cases, you will be responsible for selecting and optimizing suitable methods from the fields of statistical modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence
61 In close cooperation with the Machine Learning Engineers, you will actively contribute to defining requirements for the data processing architecture and technology
61 In addition, you will select and evaluate proposals from external solution providers and consulting companies in terms of their effectiveness and usefulness
What you bring with you
61 You have a university degree (preferably Master's or PhD) in mathematics, physics, statistics, data science or a related field
61 You have 2-5 years of experience in data science in an international environment and with virtual teams (more than 5 years of experience is highly preferred)
61 You are fluent in R or Python and have experience with machine learning frameworks such as tidymodels, mlr3, sklearn, H2O and TensorFlow You are familiar with random forests, deep learning, LLMs, timeseries forecasts and Bayesian modeling
61 You have some experience with cloud technologies, preferably with AWS
61 Working experience in chemical or manufacturing industry is preferred
