MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: - Provide appropriate accommodations that enable students to access modified curriculum, as identified in the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) - Work individually and in small group settings with students, under the guidance of the Academy and mainstream classroom teachers - Observe and document growth towards ILP goals for students - Supports the Academy teacher’s classroom management plans and philosophies - Maintain student confidentiality outside of the school setting - Direct teacher or parent questions regarding behavior and instruction to the Academy teacher - Attend workshops and seminars for professional development - Attend mainstream classes and/or after school activities with the students and implement accommodations and modifications and outlined by the Academy teacher - Perform other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the Director of Student Support Qualification - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university degree required, with teaching or clinical work experience preferred - 3+ years of success working in a school setting with various student needs - Proficiency with oral and written English is required SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES: - Respectful and patient attitude - Cooperative team member, with parents, students, and staff - Self-motivated and demonstrated initiative to problem solve - Excellent organizational skills to help maintain records and track student progress - Works well autonomously and as part of the Learning Support team - Advocate for a culture of inclusion and learning Can Do’s for all students - Respect for cultural differences of our international families - Desire to learn and develop skills that best support children with learning needs - Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
