ROLE PURPOSE:
As part of the Business Enablement Partners (BEP) legal team, you collaborate with the legal and business teams to perform due diligence and compliance tasks in the local sales process and drive the export control compliance processes to ensure robust compliance management that is required for current international regulations (e.g. UK, EU, US). This role is primarily focused on processes for mainland China and *** but may require occasional assistance in other APAC countries. You will report to a manager that is based overseas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
61 Perform due diligence and compliance tasks in the local sales process in relation to customers, distributors, agents and other third parties and assess the legitimacy of such third parties and business partners.
61 Collaborate with finance, legal/compliance, and sales teams to ensure compliance with group policies related to third parties, export control, and corporate ethics.
61 Review daily orders for compliance with local and foreign export control regulations and managing various kinds of export compliance issues, such as export license determinations, apply for licenses, and approvals.
61 Assist with maintaining and deploying the Group Export Control Compliance policy and supporting procedures.
61 Provide advice for classification of products.
61 Lead periodic self-assessments or audits and implement any necessary corrective actions to ensure compliance with anti-bribery/ethics and export and trade compliance regulations and internal policies.
61 Train locally based staff in compliance approval processes, corporate business ethics, and export control compliance policies and procedures.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED OF THE JOB HOLDER:
61 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in legal/compliance/business/management.
61 3-5 years of experience in similar role preferred.
61 Proficient speaking and writing ability both in English and Chinese
61 Proficient in MS Office applications
61 Ability to quickly understand business needs and to anticipate potential issues and provide recommendations for risk management.
61 Maintain productive relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
61 Experience in implementing initiatives within a diverse global organisation.
61 Good planning and organisational skills.
61 Experience in delivering training to a diverse global organisation preferred.
61 Experience in working in an international, highly regulated and commercial environment.
