The Johnson Matthey LEAD Programme supports the key capabilities of our business and the rapid professional progression of future leaders. Graduates on the LEAD programme will undergo leadership development while completing high priority business projects in the areas of Science, Operations or Commercial. JM LEAD consists of three rotations of varying lengths over 2.5 years in different business locations within the US, UK and China. The scope of each placement is designed to build upon the other and develop a robust technical and soft skillset.
PRINCIPAL ACCTOUNTABILITIES:
Projects will be available based on business priority in Science, Operations, and Commercial. Graduates are encouraged to select different types of projects on each rotation that align with their aspirations.
Commercial projects may include: * Evaluate business opportunities for JM and drive growth within our chosen markets. * Collaborate with technology teams to ensure product offerings are optimised for customer needs. * Visit customer sites for the purpose of business development or providing technical service support. * Manage sales projects and product lifecycle. * Engage in analytics for PGM sales/trading, develop market updates, and support activities of the trading desk. * Lead transformation efforts within the business.
Operations projects may include: * Develop and implement engineered solutions for production improving safety, performance, and reliability. * Commission new plant equipment and develop/deliver training for operators. * Mechanical and maintenance optimisation. * Implement standardized JM processes to drive continuous improvement toward goals. * Energy and emission monitoring to drive sustainability opportunities. * Improve procurement, logistics, and supply chain processes for both upstream and downstream activities.
Science projects may include: * Apply scientific methods to solve complex research problems and bring new perspective to existing solutions. * Develop next generation catalysts to efficiently convert harmful emissions to environmentally friendly compounds. * Assess environmental impacts of production technologies for R&D opportunity. * Method design and delivery for product analysis. * Support scale-up from lab to plant and standardize processes for day-to-day manufacturing. * Commission lab equipment and develop/deliver training to chemists.
SCOPE
* JM LEAD Graduates will functionally report to Early Career Managers throughout their time on the programme. They will report directly to a Line Manager on each rotation for day-to-day assignment of accountabilities, on the job training, and performance evaluation. * This role requires a significant level of initiative and ability to work with senior level management given the visibility of projects. Many projects will be managed by LEAD Graduates with little direction. * Projects submitted for LEAD Graduates have a large impact for the business which can include increased efficiencies in operations, cost savings, business development, and new product introduction.
SPECIAL FACTORS
* Engineering and science roles require adherence to PPE and other safety practices in plant and lab settings. * Virtual meetings outside of normal working hours may be required where global teams exist. * 10% travel required, domestic and international for programme development, plus any required travel for rotational projects. * Final rotation will require international travel either as a formal international assignment or extended visits to relevant country.
