Job Summary Provides technical support to sourcing team in developing metal material suppliers within the region, aiming to establish the best raw material supply portfolio for direct purchase from SLB plants or indirect purchase through machining suppliers. And also assist in resolving raw material technical or quality issues related to metal materials from SLB plants or suppliers during daily operations.
Responsibilities 1. Collaborate with the sourcing team to develop a sourcing strategy and gather market intelligence for new supplier sourcing projects. 2. Conduct quality and technical audits for mill qualification in accordance with the required specifications. 3. Evaluate the technical and quality capabilities of suppliers to assist the sourcing team in selecting preferred candidates for development. 4. Provide technical comments on issues raised by both external suppliers and internal stakeholders. 5. Coordinate with the overseas material engineering team to ensure alignment with technical requirements and provide feedback if local adjustments are necessary. 6. Review mill certifications or other technical documents provided by suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering specifications. 7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in investigating quality incidents and developing corrective and improvement action plans. 8. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate research updates, project progress, and recommendations. 9. Stay updated with the latest advancements in metallurgical research, technologies, and industry standards. 10. Organize technical sharing and training sessions to support colleagues' learning and development initiatives. 11. Foster innovation and knowledge exchange by collaborating with external partners, such as suppliers, customers, and research institutions.
Requirements 1. Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, or a related field. 2. Proven experience working as a Metallurgist or in a similar role, with experience in the steel mill or Oil & Gas industry being a plus. 3. In-depth knowledge of metallurgical principles, steel mill production processes, and metal processing methods. 4. Strong knowledge and experience in both Ferrous (alloy steel and full spectrum of stainless steel) and Non-ferrous (Nickel based, Copper alloy, Tungsten Carbide, etc.) materials. 5. Familiarity with relevant industry standards, such as ASTM, ISO, ASME, NACE and etc. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, capable of effectively conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, both locally in China and overseas. 7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions. 8. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
