Job Description: The role is based at the Microchip Shanghai Pudong office (CSH) and is a part of the Asia IT services team. The successful candidate will contribute to the support of our growing infrastructure across the Asia Pacific region and should possess foundational experience with Linux systems.
Key Responsibilities: Provide second-level support for desktop issues and assist with Linux or Windows OS-related concerns. Engage in the deployment and ongoing maintenance of the infrastructure environment. Monitor both production and development infrastructure environments to ensure consistent system availability. Maintain detailed documentation of system operations, including work instructions, local procedures, and service level agreements. Collaborate with the corporate Linux administration team to align regional Linux environments with corporate standards. Liaise with local support vendors to address server hardware issues, upgrades, and maintenance tasks.
Position Requirements: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology. Preferably, some experience in Linux system administration on the Linux Operating System. Familiarity with VMware ESXi is an advantage. Prior experience in the deployment and maintenance of Windows/Linux servers is desirable. Knowledge of installing and applying patches to systems and hardware is beneficial. Experience in supporting and resolving issues related to NFS, NIS/LDAP, and CIFS is preferred. The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team is essential.
