Responsibility:
Structured screening for new partners in 3rd party ecosystem as Universities, academia, corporates or start-up to leverage opportunities in identified competence capability search fields defined by Covestro and BE need.
Target to create “memorandum of understanding” MoU to ensure in case of match – speed project initiation and execution.
Strong internal stakeholder and relationship management of all BE present with R&D in China / APAC to ensure up to date information of BE capacity and capability gaps and need for technical and scientific project support. Continuous update and impulses on external ecosystem via road show and business partner approach
Lead matchmaking process for identified value adding external collaborations via professional process support and project lead of matchmaking projects based on evaluation of internal needs. Effectively evaluating of innovation opportunities and maturing them into new projects for Covestro (opportunity assessment). Preparation of gate decisions. Involvement in techno-economic-assessments
Initiation of Projects with external partners and process owner for administrative work concerning project related work with partners
Project lead of scientific or technical projects of increased complexity with external partners (mainly universities) in strong exchange and alignment with internal stakeholders ( BE, CISS, GIS, ) in joint developments. Strong guidance of external partners is requested. Responsible and accountable for the project work, strong execution, timeline, budget and proper IP filing and professional reporting
Depending of nature of project beside lead , management or support of scientific or technical projects with external partners (mainly universities) in strong exchange and alignment with internal stakeholders ( BE, CISS, GIS, ) in joint developments. Initiate pre-projects (feasibility studies) to ensure proper IP and techno-economic analysis.
Initiate, supervise and conduct IP analysis and strategy in the related field
Maintaining established strategic partnership and university ecosystem via structured process management. In specific - process owner of Tongi/ Covestro collaboration concerning, project selection, SC preparation, exchange and communication with University partners, compliance to contracts.
Representation of Covestro strategic alliances according to internally aligned point of view on concepts.
Establish and maintain excellent contacts with ecosystem/ university community and alliances in China/APAC. Prepare incubation activities with partners from the newly established Elite Network of Universities with focus on Covestro circular economy and climate neutrality programs with concepts and contents
Qualifications
Ph.D. and master degree in the engineering field as industrial chemistry, or general natural science, material or polymer science
Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
Excellent analytical, innovation and creativity skills
Ability to plan, align and execute Projects
Good academic contacts, additional value if member in job relevant scientific community
Some experience in dealing with open innovation collaboration
Ability to function effectively in a multicultural (divers) environment
Excellent business English required
