The legal counsel is based in Shanghai, PRC with responsibility for assisting in a variety of legal and compliance affairs of Bridgestone diversified businesses in China. The legal counsel reports to Senior Legal Counsel, Bridgestone China and shall be responsible for the following: Key Responsibilities Key Areas 61 Provide legal support to the business team (e.g. sales, logistics and supply chain, human resources etc.) on a variety of topics. 61 Work closely with the business team and build a trusted advisor relationship with the business team on a variety of topics, beyond legal risk assessment. 61 Review and monitor regulatory changes, advise the business team accordingly. 61 Work with and manage outside counsels on arbitrations and litigations. 61 Design and conduct legal training on various legal and compliance topics for the business team. 61 Provide support to various legal and compliance programs, projects and initiatives. 61 Other responsibilities (e.g. administrative affairs of the legal department) assigned by Senior Legal Counsel or General Counsel. Global/ Region/ Local Initiatives 61 Participate in Region conferences, and special projects, where required 61 Prepare and submit reporting requirements and needs when required Transversal Responsibility 61 All business decisions and actions must serve and be in line with the Group’s Essence, principles & values, TRACE, and our way to serve the community 61 Partnering with Business & Functional Leaders to champion, communicate, inculcate, drive, promote and live Bridgestone’s Essence and TRACE principles & values 61 Fostering and promoting diversity i.e. gender, generational, cultural, nationality-diversity and inclusion Requirements 61 Education: A master’s degree in law from a renowned law school and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a reputable law firm or at MNC in-house position. PRC Bar is required, overseas degree and bar would be a plus. 61 Technical Legal Skills: Demonstrated ability to advise on a breadth of legal and business matters; a results-oriented legal professional with experience in the PRC; a legal professional who has demonstrated intellect, vision, and judgment; commitment to operational excellence; negotiate with customers/vendors; ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner. 61 Business Acumen: Have strong interest in business and sharp business acumen. 61 Communication: Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and effective manner. 61 Language: Fluency in written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin) and English are required. Japanese language skills are preferred but not essential. Candidate will need to take online English level test provided by the company. Able to adapt to different cultures. 61 Able to work under pressure and learn new things quickly. Good team player.
