POSITION SUMMARY Merchandisers are the Category Specialists and are responsible for sourcing quality merchandise from appropriate vendors for assigned categories to achieve CTR’s strategy and objectives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support, integrate & reinforce CTR’s strategy, policies, workflows and objectives across the following: Vendor screening, qualification and consolidation 83 Build category expertise through understanding market trends, consumer insight collection, and hosting frequent communication with internal teams and vendors. Identify right vendors & propose products for the appropriate owned-brand and present to the Category Business Managers and Product Development team for assigned categories. Be able to work with CBMs seamlessly to make sure their strategy, product assortment management is well served and delivered from the Merchandizer. 83 Negotiate best costs, resolve issues and consolidate existing vendors following the sourcing strategy. Keep well track of the CTC cost index to make sure the price competitiveness of the incumbent vendors. 83 Create opportunities by identifying sources on new categories, or new vendors for existing categories with competitive cost in the Pacific Rim beyond China, *** and Hong Kong in order to obtain best cost products and quality to meet the desired specification. Attend Industrial exhibitions like Canton Fair, HK Electronics show to keep on looking for new vendors, new products so as to enrich CTC supplier base. 83 Support QA & QE to lead vendors in improving their performance through sharing of relative data analysis, and having regular communication via vendor meetings or visits to reinforce their customer understanding & CTR strategy. Project & buying trip management 83 Support new projects through initial project development and timeline management with Category Business Managers, Branding & Product Development teams, all cross functional teams(QA compliance, Engineers and SCOA) & vendors. Make sure the project key milestones and deadlines are well met. 83 Collaborate with and support Branding and Product Development teams to recommend vendors who can deliver on pricing/quality/innovation platforms to bring leading edge products to CTC.
83 Organize and follow up the seasonal buying trips by pre-communication with Category Business Managers and vendors, effective preparation and execution in transportation arrangement, meeting organization, offers and samples. 83 Engage support from Assistant Merchandiser as necessary JOB REQUIREMENTS 83 The incumbents will handle many different categories and processes. 83 The incumbent will require skills to maintain positive working relationships with Category Business Managers, Branding, Product Development and other support teams from Home Office, and vendors from different levels & backgrounds. ACCOUNTABILITY 83 Learn the assigned categories and build business acumen to become the Category Specialist 83 Source right vendors and right products and negotiate best cost without a compromise on quality 83 Support & provide unbiased recommendations to Category Business Managers, Branding team, and Product Development team 83 Reduce/improve defect and return rate; 83 On Time execution. GENERAL 83 Undergraduate degree, preferably in electronics, economics or business administration 83 At least 5 years working experience in the related area, such as BestBuy, Walmart, Metro, Costco etc. 83 Good command of local language, Mandarin and English. 83 Good presentation skills. 83 Good negotiation skills. 83 Good at Microsoft Office especially Excel operation & data analysis
