MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide direct technical service and support to customers and handle customer enquiries for the Tape & Label Segment, with special focus on Japan and Korea market, covering aspects such as plant trial, product specification, design issues and complaints, troubleshooting etc. 2. Develop guidelines and formulations for target segment (Tape & Label) and applications and give customers appropriate guidance for the use of our Product Range. 3. Maintain contact with existing and prospective customers, either independently or together with the sales team, using all communication channels. Support the current business, understand customer needs, identity and progress opportunities to expand the use of the entire product range. 4. Lead discovery of new opportunities through close customer engagement, and lead new application development with new or existing products to develop new business 5. Participate and influence new product development decisions for the Industry Segment, liaising with internal technical teams and providing expert advice on future applications. Keep abreast of market developments and competitive products, through internal and external sources, relating to how products perform, can be applied or tested and assess how this can be used to add value to the business. 6. Develop technical and applications expertise, providing greater understanding of the Industry Segment products via in depth training and market intelligence, within the company and to Distributors. 7. Cooperate with different business units like Quality, Sales, Application Laboratories and Operations etc. and support the business growth. 8. Participate in conferences and tradeshows and represent Synthomer in industry organisations, work groups by active participation and giving technical presentations. 9. Initiate lab work tasks to generate formulation knowledge and data for customer presentations and product promotion. 10. Issue timely and clear reports including summarizing work projects, VR monthly report etc. 11. Carries out work in accordance with company Safety and Environmental Policies and ensure SHE compliance in line with relevant internal SHE regulations and all other legal and corporate standards. 12. Other tasks deemed necessary and assigned by the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Polymer Science/Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university. 2. Broad working knowledge in a wide range of polymer science skills including structure-property relationships, polymer synthesis, polymer physics, characterization, mechanics of materials, and polymer testing. Formulation design and testing capabilities. Processing knowledge is a plus. 3. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Adhesive industry is appreciated, preferably in water-based and hot melt adhesives. 4. Prior working experience with multi-national firms and familiar with Western culture 5. Ability to travel frequently
