This role will take the leadership of building an innovation pipeline for S&T projects across Asia and lead the creation of an innovation portfolio via partnerships with academic institutions and other innovation hubs, with the goal of creating novel and advanced products for Danaher’s growth franchises. This role will work collaboratively with multiple Business Strategy and R&D leaders across Danaher’s Platforms and Operating Companies (OpCo’s) to launch Danaher Ventures (equity investment), Pioneer (venture creation), Beacon (sponsored academic research) and/or Nexus (intrapreneurship) projects, and to ensure that IP created through these strategic partnerships is properly advanced to new products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Identify complete set of start-ups and new ventures in Asia that align with the strategic envelope of the Danaher Ventures and could be targets for investment. Areas of focus: Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis and AI/ML in Life Sciences and Healthcare. Initiate contact with targets in order to develop an point of view on attractiveness, adjacency and actionability. Lead cultivation, deal development and due diligence on select targets in partnership with Danaher’s internal network of subject matter experts and commercial leaders. Prepare and present findings for internal review and sign-off. Monitor and manage, as appropriate, investments post close Complete in-depth market work in order to prioritize opportunities and develop a point-of-view on attractiveness Develop and improve standard work around opportunity identification, partner cultivation, opportunity assessment, and transactions Work closely with our Danaher Country Presidents across Asia, as well as the OpCo’s leaders in those countries. Apply the Danaher Business System to develop and improve standard work around intra- and entrepreneurship The essential requirements of the job include: Advanced degree in a scientific / engineering discipline and/or business (Areas of focus: Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis and AI/ML in Life Sciences and Healthcare), plus 8+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Life Science industry discovery and early development Experience in venture investing in early- to late-stage startups, experience/lab work in a biology setting, preferred. Mixture of Asia and global experience preferred. Successful track record in external R&D, partnering, licensing and/or business development preferred Established networks across scientific/biotech/pharma/academic/investment communities Fluency in English and Chinese Demonstrated high integrity and ethics in all dealings, non-political in conduct, while understanding internal and external dynamics Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: Travel: Varies and can be up to 50%; Candidate required to travel internationally without restrictions as needed.
