We are seeking a highly collaborative, proactive Senior Customs and Trade Compliance Analyst in APAC. This person will be responsible for responding to daily operational queries, verifying the integrity of data reported, and assisting in the implementation of trade compliance processes across the APAC region to ensure our adherence to import and export regulations and requirements. We are looking for a candidate who knows the trade compliance landscape of atleast 8 APAC countries, and has deep core customs expertise (valuation, classification, origin, controls etc). The ideal candidate is driven, has great attention to detail, strong comprehension skills, executes jobs efficiently, and is good at multitasking. The candidate also needs to be proactive in building relationships and leading discussions with relevant stakeholders in the region to increase their understanding of business needs and improve service delivery. Reporting to a manager based in another country, the candidate has to be highly motivated, a great communicator, confident, and organized. Senior Customs and Trade Compliance Analyst – APAC Responsibilities include: 61 Using SAP and Global Trade Services (GTS) Module to generate information required to assess shipments from a customs compliance perspective. 61 Conduct periodic reviews of import and export documents from a valuation, classification and customs compliance perspective 61 Ability to create/build reports in SAP and working with different IT teams to make enhancements 61 Experienced using duty and tariff databases 61 Provide clear instructions and guidance to daily queries on how to move goods in an efficient and compliant manner with controls implemented. This includes reviewing and testing the integrity of the information presented before goods are shipped to ensure risk of non-compliance is minimized. 61 Assist logistics personnel to obtain the information they require to ensure the accurate and timely clearance of shipments 61 Utilizing customs valuation knowledge to support transactions 61 Responding to export control and ad hoc customs/trade queries 61 Organize supporting documentation from different parts of the business to centrally coordinate APAC’s trade materials 61 Liaise with internal (logistics, product compliance, accounting, planners, engineers) and external stakeholders (brokers, freight forwarders etc) to extract the information required for submissions to customs authorities, and to build out stronger operational controls (including SOPs) and processes in light of jurisdiction specific requirements 61 Ensure that the requisite information is updated in SAP/GTS in a timely manner to facilitate the flow of goods compliantly 61 Assist in classifying goods for the relevant APAC jurisdictions we trade in 61 Monitor and enforce document retention controls and requirements 61 Identification of errors and working with stakeholders on corrective actions 61 Prepare periodic operational updates for the Regional Lead to ensure milestones and progress reports can be communicated up the chain 61 Troubleshoot issues in existing operational practices 61 Collaborate with other Bose Trade Compliance colleagues on operational matters. Any other duties the Employee may be instructed to carry out by the board of directors from time to time that are reasonably within the scope of the Employee’s job position and work capabilities. The ideal candidate will have the following skills, abilities and experience: 61 Comprehensive experience utilising ERP systems, such as SAP and GTS. This is a mandatory skillset for this role. 61 At least 10 years of direct experience in customs and trade compliance in APAC countries, including non-tariff barriers. Preference is given to individuals who have worked in this role within a global company, or who have a customs consulting background where they have worked on a variety of matters for different clients. In your CV, please advise what APAC countries you have trade and customs experience in. 61 Strong customs valuation and tariff classification skills. 61 Customs compliance auditing skills. Experience working through inspections and audits from customs authorities would be ideal. 61 Comprehensive knowledge of import and export regulations across multiple APAC countries, including permissions and controls. 61 Detailed understanding of logistics, incoterms, supply chains and shipping documentation. Understanding of transfer pricing, accounting principles and financial statements would also be beneficial. 61 Confidence to lead discussions and build your internal network 61 Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation). This role will require you to constantly train and upskill other stakeholders, so excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential. 61 Strong organizational, multitasking, analytical skills, and time management skills to meet or exceed deadlines, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, evolving environment. 61 Ability to work effectively with all levels within the corporation 61 Strong attention to detail and proficient recordkeeping and database maintenance skills. 61 Highly motivated and able to work both in a team and independently to make effective decisions in a timely manner. 61 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Teams etc.). Must have great excel skills.
