The Controls and PLC Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning of our hydro-cooled and air-cooled data centers with contract manufacturers across China. This individual will work closely with our contract manufacturers to ensure that control systems are integrated seamlessly and function flawlessly during and after the commissioning process. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in PLC logic, VFD controls, and HMI programming, and will have a strong ability to troubleshoot and improve control systems on-site. Additionally, the role will involve working with the USA-based engineering team to address and resolve any customer issues that arise in the field, as well as continuously improving the user experience of our data center products.
Key Responsibilities:
● Commissioning and Integration:
Oversee and ensure the successful commissioning of control systems for hydro-cooled and air-cooled data centers at contract manufacturing sites across China. Perform thorough testing to ensure all control systems are functioning as intended before shipment.
● Troubleshooting and On-Site Support:
Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for PLC logic, Automation, and HMI systems to resolve any issues during commissioning or in the field. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to address any technical challenges.
● Continuous Improvement:
Work closely with internal teams to refine and enhance PLC logic, control interfaces, and HMI designs to improve system performance, reliability, and user experience. Implement changes and updates to control systems based on field feedback and operational data.
● Collaboration with USA Engineering Team:
Communicate and collaborate with the USA-based engineering team to address customer issues and implement necessary system updates or modifications. Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and resolutions to ensure alignment with overall product development goals.
● TravelandSite Visits:
Travel frequently to contract manufacturing facilities across mainland China to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and improvements.
Qualifications:
● Technical Expertise:
Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting,including Siemens, Schneider Allen-Bradley, or other common PLC logic. Experience with IO checks & industrial Automation experience. Solid understanding of control systems, automation, and industrial equipment.
● Education Background:
US graduated with Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a similar field.
● Critical thinking and Troubleshooting:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in complex control systems quickly and efficiently.
● LanguageSkills:
Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written), with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both local and international teams.
● Travel:
Must be comfortable with frequent travel within mainland China to various manufacturing sites.
● TeamCollaboration:
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and field service personnel.
● Experience:
Aminimum of 3-5 years of experience in a controls engineering role, ideally within the data center or industrial automation sector
