Job Responsibility: - Support New Product Launches and Existing Production. Work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering to effectively introduce new programs to the external customer without any issue of concern. Review PPAP and APQP (SPAP) on current and new production components and assemblies. Thoroughly understand complex manufacturing & inspection processes to implement at the supply base along with the documentation requirements. - New Product Development. Ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews are held at appropriate times during HUSCO’s product development process. Work closely with engineering team to review the part/assembly related manufacture requirements from concept to mature production, ensuring designs are modified where necessary and that costs are managed effectively. - Develop Global Supply Base. Work in close collaboration with Purchasing, Engineering to develop global supply base with emphasis on achieving target quality level at or below expected cost. Complete new supplier systems audits along with current supplier process and systems audits. Effective development and management “probationary” suppliers. Codify and share process best practices internally and between suppliers as appropriate. Ensure smooth technology transfer between suppliers of equal standing to the benefit of HUSCO. Identify & support internal and customer cost reduction activities (REAP/ PPV), including communicating any key risks in terms of capacity - Support existing Corrective and Preventative action processes. Ensure suppliers complete root cause analysis to ensure correct issues are addressed. Communicate supplier containment and certification of replacement parts. Ensure corrective action has been completed and is effective for root cause problem resolution.
Requirement - College Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or closely related discipline with Quality emphasis or equivalent education required - Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a component manufacturing environment. Range of knowledge to include casting (iron and aluminum) processes, as well as metal machining processes - Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances and related inspection practices - Exhibit good judgment, common sense, leadership and decision-making skills and abilities - Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and varied tasks - Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other functional areas as follows: Operations, Design Engineering, Purchasing and Inventory Control, Scheduling, and Shipping/Receiving - Six Sigma trained preferred - Effective trouble shooting, problem solving and organizational skills preferred 8D methodology. - Able to handle frequent interruptions, meet tight deadlines, work staggered shifts to communicate with global counterparts or suppliers, and handle conflict in an effective manner - Experience with Microsoft Office products. Accurate typing/computer data entry with above average attention to detail - Travel up to 50% (including travel abroad)
