SUMMARY AMOT, founded in 1948, is a leading global manufacturer of control, safety and hazardous area solutions for engines, compressors, turbines and other rotating equipment in the oil and gas, marine, power generation and transportation industries. Purpose of Role: In support of the New Product Development function, working under limited supervision of the team leader, carry out a variety of design assignments using knowledge, experience, initiative and independent judgment. Produce accurate layouts and detailed drawings and solid models, following all internal procedures, to AMOT and relevant international standards. Develop new products, according to a published project plan or other deadlines, following best engineering practice. Essential Functions/Duties: 1. Under limited supervision design and develop new products according to the New Product Development process which will typically include, input for project planning, 3D concept modelling; detailed design; detailed drawings and models; product cost estimates, prototype development and test. 2. Produce accurate layouts and detail drawings/solid models, following all internal procedures, to AMOT and relevant British and international standards. 3. Liaise with Purchasing / Manufacturing departments to ensure that the best possible costs are leveraged for prototype and production parts, and that all parts are fit for purpose. 4. Plan and track product development efforts. Provide additional support for models, design drawings and BOM as needed. Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required. 5. Perform product support functions for both internal and external customers. Maintain customer and vendor communications and update technical document. 6. Ensure that all testing required to demonstrate that the new product meets specification is performed and appropriately documented. Participate in, or manage any testing, 7. To write, or manage external services to write, manuals or instruction sheets for products to include procedures, limitations of use, maintenance, spares, warnings, overviews and any other relevant or necessary information. 8. Follow all defined internal quality procedures, and internal design standards. Ensure that designed products comply with all compulsory standards applicable to the product and country of sale. 9. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. 10. Respond to change productively and handle any other assigned duties as required. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor Degree, in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is essential. Master’s degree in Engineering would be a plus. Minimum of 3 years relevant previous design experience required. Knowledge & Skills: Essential: Working knowledge of common drafting standards and procedures 2D droughting, 3D solid modelling, using AutoCAD/Inventor or similar Working knowledge of MS Office Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable: Knowledge and/or experience of castings, fluid dynamics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Electronic control systems, hazardous areas (e.g. ATEX, CSA), CFD, FEA Language Skills: Good written and spoken English is required
