General Summary: Merchandiser handles merchandising operation and import buying activities or the coordination of such, in designated categories, including product development, cost negotiation, sample approval, order follow-up, and supplier management. They play a key role in supporting merchandising manager and buyers to achieve KPIs and financial goals.
Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for the coordination of daily operational activities in product development, costing, preproduction sample development, preliminary screening and production tracking. 2. Manage costing package of various programs and work on pricing analysis and competitiveness. Facilitate price negotiation process with vendors. 3. Communicate preproduction sample specifications with suppliers and tracks such sample development through completion in meeting product specification and compliance expectations. 4. Track and manage production processes properly to meet quantity, quality, order specification and delivery dates requirements. 5. Locate and diagnose production problems and work with supplier for solutions and present to related teams and leaders. 6. Communicate order details and requirements to suppliers and related authorized parties. 7. Coordinate sourcing trip schedules and logistics and also compliance, QA and logistics activities. 8. Educate vendors on company business Standard Operating Procedures and expectations. 9. Assess and report supplier performances and also identify and recommend new sources to leaders. 10. Identify training and development needs for current responsibilities with supervisor. 11. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Fluency in English (written and oral) - Excellent communication skills - Multi-tasking and independent working ability - Able to travel domestically and internationally as required - Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PPT and Excel
Work Experience and/or Education: - University degree preferred. - 2+ years' experience in merchandising, sourcing or manufacturing industry. - Experience working with buyers. - Familiar with retail (US market preferred) and manufactory supply chain.
