Boarding at KSS is in one building over 14 floors: levels 4-17. Boys and girls are on separate floors. Rooms on levels 4-11 are equipped for four students; rooms on levels 12-17 are for two students. All rooms are en-suite.
There is a member of staff living on each floor for overnight and general supervision purposes. Other members of teaching staff have one evening boarding duty per week to supervise students during their evening study and relaxation times.
There is 24-hour medical care in the building.
Some of these members of staff take on the responsibility of Boarding Housemasters and Housemistresses (BHsms). There are five BHsms as follows: ? Junior age group x 1 (covering levels 3-4) ? Middle age group x 2 (covering levels 5-11) ? Senior age group x 2 (covering levels 12-17)
The staff living on the other levels are Boarding Tutors (BTs) and support the BHsms. Boarding is from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon.
The overall responsibility for boarding lies with the school’s SLT. For 2022-2023 the Deputy Head Pastoral is the leader in charge.
