Job Description Based out of Mastars in Shenzhen, China, the Senior Mechanical Engineer NPI will be responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) transition, Provide technical interface between Mastars and supplier base through out the development cycle and then completely own and manage Product Acceptance to Pilot Production phases. Work closely with tooling vendors, Assembly factory, Sourcing and Purchasing teams, as well as Engineers from customers to ensure quality, BOM cost, and schedule objectives are meet. Responsibilities:, ? Review design and provide constructive feedback to the customer. ? Work with vendors to make high quality DFX report (DFA, DFM, DFT……) to minimize the issues and risks from product design, tooling development and related manufacturing process. ? Conduct tooling and production issues root cause analysis and solve the problem on time ? Must have strong attention to detail, enjoy "hands-on" troubleshooting, and have the ability to update 3D models and 2D documentation. ? Good problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary, as well as knowledge of materials and manufacturing process ? Modify individual component / assembly drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for new and existing products as needed for debug or maintenance. ? Manage Mechanical BOM and ECO updates ? Responsible for coordinating quotation packages, parts, tooling, and testing and verification of product requirements. ? Support product builds for EVT, DVT and PVT all the way to production ramp. ? Participate in supplier qualification and audit ? Assist with documentation modification, including product specifications, work instructions, test plans and other documented attributes of the product. ? The ability to manage new and unique situations with minimal supervision. ? Domestic (Southern China) travel required. Education and Experience Requirements: ? BSME or MSME/MSIE preferred. ? Minimum 8 years related work experience in design, fabrication and qualification consumer electronic products, cars, medical or power related products. ? Program management experience is a plus. ? Good problem solving skills especially in relation to trouble shooting plastic and metal parts, aesthetic defects, part failure, processing issues, etc. ? Strong knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting and rapid prototyping. ? A good understanding of and experience with plastic, metal finishing, decorating, sonic welding and other secondary operations is a plus. ? Tooling drawing review and approval experience is a plus ? At least 5 years of 3D and 2D drawings experience by Creo, Solidworks or UG. ? Hands on experience in a fast paced and high quality manufacturing environment with a good working understanding of manufacturing process is preferred. ? Knowledge in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP - Gage R&R, FAI, cpk, control plan). ? Analytical and/or numerical engineering analysis, including tolerance stack-up, moldflow, production assembly process experience preferred. ? Experience working with cross-functional teams managing multiple projects concurrently. ? Experience in working with contract resources is highly desirable. ? Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills ? Ability to communicate effectively in English by e-mail. ? Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. ? Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience a must. ? Driver license owner is a must.
