R&D Manager at International LED Lighting Company Company Background: Astera is an international company with locations in Germany, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen. We specialize in LED lighting products for events and film. We are currently seeking a full-time R&D Manager for our site in Shenzhen, China.
Job Description: As the R&D Manager for our Chinese site in Shenzhen, you will play a crucial role in leading our team of 25 engineers and project managers to success. You will be responsible for understanding the requirements set by our CTO in Germany and the Product Management Team. You will ensure that your team is trained and equipped to meet them. You will oversee the entire NPI process, up to the PVT phase, and work closely with other departments to meet the company goals.
You will also be responsible for identifying and minimizing risks, monitoring the team's progress, and offering training or hiring new team members as needed. Communication between our Chinese and German sites is essential, and you will play a key role in ensuring that all parties are aligned.

Qualifications: * Extensive experience in LED lighting product development, with a strong background in electrical, mechanical, optical and system engineering. * Substantial experience in product development of lighting products, including conducting feasibility studies, and safeguarding the product development process. * Hands-on experience in supervising product development teams, monitoring progress, identifying issues, and proposing solutions. * Extensive experience of the NPI process preferably in international companies emphasizing short time to market. * Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to guide the team on technical issues in close collaboration with colleagues in Germany. * Bachelor's degree or above in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or related areas. * Empathy and the ability to understand the needs, motivation and perspectives of team members and stakeholders.
