They will be used to a high degree of responsibility and accountability and be comfortable in seeking, developing and delivering products and ranges from world class vendors in support of the category managers buying strategy. ? Exceptional depth of product sourcing and range development knowledge ? Solid understanding of end to end international supply chains ? Strong commercial acumen with proven, effective negotiation skills ? Firm understanding of the difference between pure cost and real value ? Experience in category management principles in major retailer ? Experience in home products / DIY market ? You must be resilient, positive and results driven ? Ability to work in fast paced, flexible and demanding workload ? Team oriented with some people management experience ? Excellent communication and influencing skills ? Experience within the Homeware market would be an advantage ROLE PURPOSE This is position is key to enabling the product team to achieve ambitious revenue, margin and growth targets across all categories and promotional activities: Achievement will be possible through the roles key responsibilities: ? Build effective and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver strategic commercial objectives. ? Help create and deliver sourcing plans to achieve category objectives. ? Build effective and collaborative relationships and share business strategy with existing suppliers and external business partners. ? Identify and explore new Low Cost Country sourcing opportunities ? Select and develop new vendors to ensure we consistently offer the market leading designs, product innovation, high quality and competitive prices. ? Work closely with the Quality team to ensure sourced products are compliant to both relevant national and internal specification requirements. ? Select and develop products which will optimise sales and profitability, working in collaboration with key category stakeholders. ? Ensure the cost of product assortments are in line with agreed business strategy to ensure delivery of the wider commercial and margin objectives. ? Effectively negotiate, agree and ensure compliance to business terms with our suppliers. ? Identify/ensure all associated supply chain risks are mitigated as far as possible ? Gain a high level of understanding about the technical aspects of our products, freight and manufacturing processes, understanding how commodities and labour impact our cost of goods KEY OUTPUTS Ensures the business’ expectation is achieved, this must be delivered whilst ensuring we maintain: - Lowest possible cost, Delivery on time - Cooperative and willing vendor base - Compliant quality - Responsiveness and flexibility - Support of innovation and introduction of new products
