This position reports to the Manager of Sourcing and Supplier Management.

This position will participate in leading the creation and execution of engineering solution to deliver project that fulfill the market need. Prospecting potential suppliers while building their knowledge of materials, processes. Under the direction of the Manager of Sourcing and Supplier Management, this position will collaborate with Sourcing staff and Supplier Owner to establish solid supplier base with full competence on engineering capabilities, uncover and drive for creativity and innovation from supply base . The role is also responsible for meeting project schedule, address risk factors in the project.
Duties and Responsibilities

? Manages, coordinates and Lead technical solutions for assigned project, create full engineering solution to accomplish the project goal set for each aspect of form fit, function, reliability, user experience.
? Offer multiple options for engineering solution that associate with different level of risk factors (schedule, technical risk, compliance risk), elaborate the trade off from each design option, provide recommendation to the core team representing engineering functional view
? Participate into core team meeting, weight in engineering opinion when comes to project goal setting, decision making and product buy off
? Plan then execute the engineering schedule with balanced view of shortening execution lead time and risk mitigation
? Implement NPD phase review process into new product development, NUDD analysis, DFM, EVT / DVT / PVT review and sign off are the few critical tool and check points that the Project engineering Function take lead
? Jointly lead the creation of product specifications that is true reflection of the design intend, quality level the project is required and under cost budget
? Create mock up samples at initial design stage, conduct test then report the design readiness before tooling start. Be the gate keeper for managing tooling technical risk.
? Be part of core team define design boundary, design guide line for key material and processes.
? Develops industry / market technology trend analysis, competitive situations in technology territory, measure readiness and maturity of the new technology, feed into roadmap design forum
? Coach and guide supplier engineering team to accomplish the product development and qualification tasks, escalate to Sourcing staff and Sourcing Owner when comes to engineering competence gap from the supplier
? Set Technology expectation under the framework of TQRACC (Technology, Quality, Responsiveness, Availability, Cost and Compliance) objectives for the suppliers / programs within the scope of the role. Measure supplier’s performance on Technology in regular basis
? Participate into VA/VE project and other cost saving activities, provide engineering assessment to VA/VE ideas, support the program execution with engineering risk under control


Knowledge, skills and abilities

? A mix of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering knowledge, subject matter expert in one of Mechanical and Electrical industry.
? With Mechanical is the main expertise the individual falls in, the employee has full capability to do hands on design using mainstream mechanical design software, transform a design on paper to a mechanical skeleton and all the way till structural design ready for mock up sample
? With Electrical is the main expertise from the individual, the employee has full capability to design the electrical circuitry, identify key component, create electrical BOM
? Rich knowledge with proven success record in project management skills
? Problem Solving – The ability to identify problems and develop and implement solutions to the issues.
? Decision Making – The ability to make “value added” decisions in a timely manner at all levels of the organization.
? Risk management skills – be able to identify and quantify each of the risk factor, implement preventive action or risk mitigation actions

? Ethics – Consistently uses good judgment when analyzing right and wrong and performs at a level of conduct that is with in corporate ethics guidelines.

Education and/or experience

? Effective written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin
? Able to work independently and make recommendations
? A Bachelor’s Degree in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering field
? A minimum of 5-7 years’ work experience working with manufacturers
? Must be computer savvy with extensive MS Office experience.
? Be able to master mainstream mechanical CAD design software (applicable for mechanical engineering background) or electrical circuitry design software
? Willing to take challenges, hardworking, self-motivated and dependable
? Capability to handle multiple tasks
? Able to travel within the geographical area and sometimes throughout China
