Position: Country Representative – Shipping and Forwarding Logistics for Hongkong/China
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to establish and lead our shipping and forwarding logistics operations in Hongkong/China.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership and Office Setup
86 Establish and manage the organization’s operations in Hongkong/China including setting up office infrastructure, building teams, and ensuring operational readiness.
86 Develop and execute business strategies to penetrate the local market and align with global company goals.
86 Build a robust network of clients, partners, and logistics providers to drive sustainable growth.
2. EXIM Trade Management
86 Oversee end-to-end export and import (EXIM) operations, ensuring smooth cargo flow from Hongkong/China/Thailand to global destinations and vice versa.
86 Stay updated with specific EXIM norms and regulatory changes, integrating them into operational workflows.
86 Monitor and optimize freight movement, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to delivery timelines.
3. Customs Compliance and Cargo Handling
86 Manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring full compliance with international customs regulations and procedures.
86 Liaise with customs authorities and brokers to resolve clearance issues promptly.
86 Develop processes to streamline documentation, such as bills of lading, airway bills, and export/import declarations.
4. Air and Ocean Freight Logistics
86 Oversee air cargo and ocean container logistics, ensuring efficient handling, storage, and transportation of goods.
86 Negotiate favourable terms with carriers, airlines, and third-party logistics providers to optimize supply chain performance.
86 Manage the handling of special cargo types, including hazardous materials and temperature-sensitive goods, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
5. Representation and Stakeholder Engagement
86 Represent the organization at international forums, trade fairs, and conferences related to forwarding, shipping, warehousing, and 3PL logistics.
86 Serve as the primary liaison between the company and local industry stakeholders, government agencies, and trade associations.
86 Build the company’s reputation as a trusted logistics partner in the region through thought leadership and active networking.
6. Business Development and Market Expansion
Identify new market opportunities and develop strategies to expand the organization’s footprint in Hongkong/China.
Leverage captive business opportunities to drive revenue growth and build long-term client relationships.
Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to design and implement campaigns targeting key industries and regions.
7. Reporting and Compliance
86 Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management, including operational metrics, financial performance, and market insights.
86 Ensure full compliance with local laws, trade regulations, and corporate policies.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in EXIM trade and a deep understanding of international customs regulations, air traffic, and ocean traffic logistics. With at least 10 years of experience in the shipping and forwarding industry, this individual will drive our business operations, represent the organization at international forums, and ensure seamless compliance with global trade standards.
Leadership: Proven ability to establish and manage regional offices, including hiring, training, and leading cross-functional teams.
Representation: Experience representing organizations at international forums, conferences, and trade associations.
Skills:
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Attributes:
Fluency in English and Mandarin, with knowledge of other regional languages being a plus.
Prior experience in 3PL logistics, warehousing, and supply chain optimization.
Familiarity with industry certifications such as FIATA, IATA, or related qualifications.
