Senior Product Designer

PRIMARY DUTY

Under the supervision of the VP of Creative and Product Development, the Senior Product Designer will work in conjunction with the Product Development team and other senior members of the creative team to design and develop new product lines, as well as develop ideas and concepts for new products, programs, planograms and displays. This position will require continuous market research and an extensive knowledge and understanding of retail trends, materials, technologies, merchandising etc. It is anticipated that, in performing the assigned duties, the Senior Product Designer will demonstrate invention, imagination, originality, and/or talent in a recognized field of artistic or creative endeavor.

61 Design and illustrate new product include tableware, balloons, favors, décor, wearables, pinatas, gift bags, gift wrap, and more.
61 Develop and implement new product ideas.
61 Develop artwork purchased or licensed by outside artists.
61 Design generic, private label or licensed ensembles with minimal supervision.
61 Learn about our licensed properties to create designs which follow the licensor’s guidelines.
61 Understand and prepare art files in 4 to 6 colors (both 4 color process and spot color) which will be turned over to the production team for final artwork production.
61 Assist with mock-ups when necessary.
61 Stay current with design trends in the market place within the party category and related fields.
61 Help train/mentor Associate and Assistant Product Designers.
61 Continue to update computer skills and experiment with new software updates and programs.
61 Responsible for maintaining and organizing computer files. Delete/archive files as necessary.
61 Help keep product die -line files up to date with revised sizes and new additions.
61 Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

61 Requires effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas, facts, and recommendations effectively, along with very strong English skills and proficiency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin.
61 Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite software.
61 Strong internet and email skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
61 Experience using major private label style guides.
61 A good understanding of offset and flexographic printing processes is preferred.
61 Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including sizes and color percentages.
61 Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
61 Ability to work independently with little direction.
61 Ability to work at a high level in a fast-paced environment.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

61 Bachelor’s degree from a four-year art college or university preferred.
61 4 years of related experience and/or training required; 5 or more years preferred.
61 Previous experience designing any of the following categories is preferred: party goods, tableware, favors, activities, wearables, toys, stationery, décor, gifts, and/or activity products.

Immediate available is highly preferred.
