Mission of function: The Senior Optical Design will be providing designs and analyses in development of all aspects of mechanical portions of optical components for lamps and luminaires. They will occasionally also be involved in the assembly stage and advise manufacturers during the production process.
Responsibilities /Tasks: 1. Estimate the costs, resources and time required to develop new optical components and systems for LED lamps and luminaires 2. Develop optical components for LED lamps and luminaires from the scratch to the finish component 3. Simulate the optical system with a ray tracing program, optimize it and ensure that a maximally robust design is developed 4. Define the materials to be used for production 5. Build up prototypes to test the optical system 6. Generating a set of acceptance test requirements, together with the quality engineers, which determine that all of the requirements have been met. 7. Mentoring of other optical engineers and consulting of R&D engineers in optical design topics 8. Support in standardization topics
