Supplier Development Engineer for major appliance
Finished product suppliers quality management. Dealing with D2D quality issues for new projects and existing projects. Delivering PIQ (APQP) and PPAP according to the WPD(Whirlpool product development process) process . Problem solving for D2D quality issues, and continuously driving suppliers to reduce their product failure rate. Products include small appliances and major appliances.
2. Essential Functions 主要的职责
-Apply critical thinking in collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers, delivering PIQ and PPAP, overseeing NPI inspections, and ensuring successful product launches without significant quality issues.
-Apply critical thinking to analyze significant NPI sample runs, develop and implement robust action plans to resolve quality issues, and rigorously validate the effectiveness of those plans to ensure products consistently meet Whirlpool's stringent quality, performance, and reliability standards.
-Collaborate with global quality teams, applying critical thinking to analyze top failure modes, drive continuous improvement through detailed sample return analysis, and execute TCQ projects to significantly reduce global failure rates.
-Utilize 8D or A3 frameworks to systematically track and analyze significant quality issues, leveraging critical thinking to monitor progress and ensure timely, data-driven closure.
-Collaborate with a global quality team and lead strategic projects within the finished product quality team, driving impactful improvements and ensuring alignment with global quality objectives.
-Involves qualifying new suppliers with third-party assistance, managing and coaching existing suppliers to improve quality systems according to IATF16949, and developing suppliers whose quality systems fall below acceptance. Work with 3rd party to qualify new suppliers, manage and coach suppliers to improve their quality system according to IATF16949, and develop suppliers if their quality system is lower than acceptance.
3.Qualifications 任职资格
1). Education
Bachelor Degree or above in engineering or Scientific.
2).Threshold Experience

2-10 years above in quality, prefer to have experience in major or small appliance industry.
Fluent English/Mandarin in both oral and written.
3) WHR Leadership Competencies
As part of a team, work with team members, take accountability and be able to talk straight.
Ability to think creatively and drive problem solving with suppliers.
This role requires a candidate who can consistently apply strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
Good data analytical skills and presentation skills, able to use data to provide recommendation, and drive actions.


4). Functional Competencies:
-Knowledge of product/process quality management as well as product development process.
-Be able to travel domestically and also be able to have short international travel if required occasionally.
-Understanding ISO9001 & IATF system requirements, a certified internal system auditor is preferred.
-Understanding APQP, PPAP, 8D concepts and being able to utilize them.
Flexible working time, and being able to join the evening call with the global team. (around 2-6 hours in total of evening call per week)
-Six sigma green belt knowledge is preferred. (Be able to understand SPC, MSE, CPK minimum)
