Main Responsibilities: Develop EV connectivity products for existing customer projects and programs Responsible for managing product design activity related to sustaining, new and transfer projects Applies working knowledge of EV product development, specifically related to Electrical connectivity, power and signal, mechanical assembly, establishing process controls and mechanisms that are a combination of manual, semi-automated, and fully automated production systems Handle the product development responsibilities from start to finish Direct hands on involvement in problem formulation, problem definition, problem solving, process development and process refinement Will be responsible for delivering to at least 98% product yield through continuous process improvement through product evolution, B, C., D and SOP stages Manage both product and process development through the application and use of innovative tools and skills that can arrive at creative solutions and problem solving. A person in this role will continuously demonstrate creative side of problem solving to feed innovation, while also mentoring and coaching new recruits and junior level engineers fueling growth and development of products in a fast-paced environment Working knowledge of the Electric vehicle products as related to cable, wire harnesses and electrical connectivity Identify "KEY" material characteristics and methods of insuring uniformity in the finished product. Interface heavily with tooling vendors to provide tool design DFM feedback, develop and construct part drawings, review and approve Establish, maintain and administer the library of process instructions for various machines, to achieve the goal of uniformity of the manufacturing processes. Responsible for leading the team on DFMEA Applies the knowledge and principles of Lean and six sigma into everyday work streams Acts as technical problem-solver for engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and sales as necessary. Performs calculations as required. Interprets results and reports conclusions. Keep the company informed of recommendations for improvements, in any and all aspects, of the manufacturing system. Has the authority to stop further processing of products that exhibit quality or customer related issues, and notifying the appropriate supervisor or manager of that issue Delivery of process improvements for high quality and high yields Data analysis to identify improvement opportunities Implement process control techniques and tools into production Simplify processes to reduce human errors Reduce setup times to maximize line utilization Manage and deliver cost reduction projects Support process definition, manufacture of qualification cables, and ramp-up of production capability of new products with high yields Project management including maintaining and executing project schedules and getting necessary support from Maintenance, Quality and Operations to complete projects Contributing technical problem solving as needed for the support of general production Supervise process technicians for production support and project completion Training of operators as well as process technicians in best practices 90% of the job is on the production floor
Education: Bachelor of Science or master’s in engineering with specialization in the Cable assembly technologies either in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Required Experience: 5-10+ years in manufacturing support or developmental role in continuous manufacturing environment. successful demonstrated track record of NPD, (examples) specifically in EV as related to component design, full turn-key products, (5-10 years) Must be very hands on, can be effective autonomously and in a team. Thinks outside the box, creative. Drives results no matter the obstacles. Comfortable working in low resourced environment. Understanding of electrical testing and required systems (Hi-Pot testing, Category cable testing) A result driven individual with a proven track record in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong project management abilities. Proven ability to use DOE and SPC techniques (Six Sigma Greenbelt/Blackbelt experience is a plus). Pursuit of a GCC Greenbelt certification is strongly encouraged during year 1 or 2. Able to manage and execute multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a daily basis. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Flexible work schedule to support facility Operations. Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available. Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently. Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis.
