1)Bachelor’s degree or above in Education, Library Science or English Literature/Linguistics. 2)A recognised teaching qualification. 3)Experience teaching across the range of Secondary age students, including experience of teaching information literacy and implementing programmes which aim to develop a love of reading. Teaching experience in IB school preferred. 4)Strong information technology skills, including familiarity with IB curriculum. 5)Ability to team player/ collaboratively work with a team; time manager; work under pressure; good interpersonal skills; excellent computer literate and organizational skills. 6)Fluent written and spoken English.
Responsibilities: 1)Reading and Literature - Assist Secondary librarian coordinator(SLC listed below) to foster an environment that encourages and empowers students to read and research in academic. - Support SLC to develop, implement and support strategies, programmes, special events and activities to support reading, and to develop in students and staff a love of literature and the habit of lifelong reading. - Support SLC to select a wide range of literature in print and digital formats, across both English and Chinese, reflecting diverse student interests, development and levels of attainment. 2) Learning and Teaching - Provide library information literacy(LIL listed below) lessons in MYP – to build and develop an array of reading and research skills, as well as inspire a love of reading. - Support SLC to create and nurture an information-rich learning environment which supports the needs of the OCAC Suzhou Community. - Inspire and facilitate independent learning, research and inquiry. - Build and facilitate IBL and ATL skills - Collaborate with SLC and SALs to plan, teach, evaluate and assess to ensure effective integration of information literacy, research skills, reading, literature and literacy skills into curriculum areas. - Liaise with SLC and SALs regarding teaching / learning needs and how these can be supported by the LIL. - Support staff/students in using the library 3) Professional Development - Maintain awareness of current best practice in the library and in MYP education. - Undertake ongoing professional learning and development in LIL teaching skills and other teaching strategies. 4) Others - Support daily tasks of the library. - Deliver student supervision during breaktime/lunchtime.
