Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 1. Lead the design definition of a new product in conjunction with the commercial and manufacturing functions. 2. Guide and expedite all stages of product prototype associated with new product design. 3. Guide and expedite all stages of the NPP, ISIR and/or PPAP associated with new product design. 4. Develop projects according to project management best practices. 5. Lead product and process development team to the successful and profitable realization of new Vernay products. 6. Facilitates knowledge sharing with North America and Europe sister companies. 7. Work with commercial and manufacturing team players toward creating better team building communications/cooperation and to stay within budget. 8. Influence the application of lean manufacturing principles in all product/process design. 9. Work closely in guiding the design function on all products in area of responsibility. 10. Close and record all product/process projects in a timely and professional manner. 11. Improve/enhance basic technological skill sets that will position this function and Vernay toward the future. 12. Communicate with R&D or Engineering departments within the group. 13. Provide technical support to the sales group. 14. Communicate and provide timely responses to customers, either internal or external. 15. Proficient in the use of Vernay simulation tools and test database to provide application support to both internal and external customers. 16. Understand and employ principles of Lean Product Development. 17. Actively participate in 5S and safety programs. Education, Experience, and Skills Required: 1. Candidate must possess a bachelor in engineering, preferably Mechanical or equivalent experience. 2. Minimum 5 years of experience in design, product development and production ramp through the commercialization process including project management. 3. Knowledge and experience of/in rubber and plastics industry. Knowledge of material science, particularly polymers as an advantage. 4. Mandarin mother-tongue. 5. Fluency in English – written and spoken. 6. Availability to work when necessary in the Vernay Technical Centers with hands-on abilities to operate molding presses, rubber testing equipment and functional test equipment. 7. Familiarity with SPC, FMEA, ISO IATF 16949 standards and approach. 8. Availability to travel and commute to other Vernay plants for training, transfer of projects and customer visits.
