Liverpool Mobility Manager at XJTLU
Role Context and overview:
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), was established in 2006 through a partnership between the University of Liverpool (UoL) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). It is an independent international University and the largest Sino-foreign cooperation in China.
Through a collaborative teaching arrangement, XJTLU delivers UoL degrees transnationally at both UG and PG levels alongside XJTLU degrees at UG level. Most UG programmes offer an opportunity for students to complete part of their degree at the University of Liverpool through 2+2 articulations or the Taicang year in Liverpool (2+1+1) programme. This allows students to gain invaluable international experience within their degree and helps to differentiate XJTLU within the China market, positioning favourably for quality recruitment. For the University of Liverpool, the inbound mobility from XJTLU is an essential constituent of its global education and student intake strategies.
To ensure these opportunities are positioned effectively to maximise the benefits for students and both partner universities, the University of Liverpool and XJTLU are looking to appoint a Mobility Manager based at the Suzhou site of the XJTLU campus.
Accountable to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the XJTLU Dean at UoL and a Liverpool Mobility Group, the Manager will work with a wide range of stakeholders across both XJTLU and UoL to raise the profile of the Liverpool study options, drive applications and ultimately meet Liverpool mobility targets for the partnership.
The post holder will be a highly effective communicator and have the confidence, gravitas and diplomacy to network and collaborate across functional areas at XJTLU and between the two universities in an increasingly complex and high priority area of business. And the post holder will report to both XJTLU and UoL.
Priorities:
61 To lead on the achievement of target numbers for the Liverpool mobility programmes.
61 To champion the options for mobility to Liverpool at XJTLU, positioning them within the XJTLU student recruitment brand messaging
61 To raise awareness of the University of Liverpool across the XJTLU campuses
61 To agree marketing messages with XJTLU colleagues for use in mobility campaigns
61 To engage with students and parents about Liverpool study options at key stages in their XJTLU journey – pre-XJTLU, stage 1 and stage 2 students.
61 To work with Registry colleagues to set up the infrastructure for students to transfer to or spend a year in Liverpool.
61 To amplify messaging about mobility to Liverpool through working closely with and training key influencers at XJTLU including academic staff, student recruitment staff, development advisors and study abroad staff.
61 To work with Registry staff to manage application processes for the 2+2 or Taicang 2+1+1 programmes.
61 To gather data and insight into student motivations to inform mobility plans, promotional campaigns and new programme developments.
61 To work with Liverpool colleagues and external bodies (UKVI, British Council, Visa Application Centres) to support the UK visa application process for Liverpool mobile students with a zero-rejection rate target.
61 To work with student and alumni ambassadors as influencers for the mobility programmes to Liverpool.
61 To develop and manage communication channels and social media platforms for student promotions and communications.
61 To facilitate collaborative recruitment activity and referrals between XJTLU and UoL recruitment teams both domestically and internationally.
61 To work with Student Affairs staff to support recruitment and admissions to the Single Liverpool Award
What are we looking for :
61 Experience in student recruitment, international relations, international partnerships or the student experience.
61 Experience of advising and inspiring students on international mobility opportunities and requirements.
61 An engaging presenter with the ability to inspire confidence in the target audience (students, parents and staff).
61 A creative approach student engagement and communications
61 An ability to using appropriate communications platforms - social media and customer relationship management software.
61 An appreciation and understanding of marketing and campaigns.
61 Experience in managing projects involving a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

Detailed Duties
Area of responsibility
Student recruitment, marketing and engagement
61 Provide inspiration and timely information and advice about the 2+2/2+1+1 programmes to students, parents and influencers at all stages of their student journey (from enquiry to alumni), including options for mobility and the implications of programme choice
61 To work with colleagues in both institutions to develop and implement plans to build the pipeline of students interested in mobility to Liverpool throughout the student journey from recruitment to XJTLU to on-boarding in Liverpool.
61 Develop, update and deliver a programme of inspiring and informative sessions and materials to promote the mobility options, provide information about the application process, advise on the preparations for the UK visa and support the transfer to Liverpool.
61 Working with colleagues at UoL & XJTLU, develop, publicise and facilitate a series of online and in-person events to inspire student progression to UoL XJTLU on all mobility routes.
61 Support the organisation and delivery of key events in the student journey, including the Study Abroad Fair, the programme choice fair and open days, as means to promote and communicate the mobility options to Liverpool.
61 Work with the UoL’s International Advice and Guidance Team to develop and deliver bespoke visa guidance support for all transferring students, differentiating the guidance for international students and those on the Year in Liverpool programme. Target of zero visa rejections
61 Work with XJTLU and UoL colleagues to develop, organise and contribute to the delivery of a “Get Ready for Liverpool” conversion and pre-arrival preparation programme (including advice on fraudulent marketing and financial scams).
61 Answer student queries via the two-plus-two@xjtlu.edu.cn and Taicang.liverpool@xjtlu.edu.cn email accounts and weekly drop-in sessions
61 Develop, maintain, verify and publish information on E-bridge and the XJTLU website about the mobility options to Liverpool, developing resources and other communications channels
61 Employing and utilising student and alumni advocates for peer-to-peer communications.
61 Supporting the admissions and induction processes for Single Liverpool Award students.
61 To work with XJTLU & UoL colleagues to survey students to collate information and insight on student motivations in order to position XJLTU and mobility options favourably for future cohorts.
61 Support outreach and open day activities for XJTLU to support recruitment to the XJTLU positioning the UoL partnership, dual degree and 2+2/2+1+1 programmes as part of the offer.
61 To manage CRM and mailing lists with opt outs where appropriate developing communications to manage enquiries.
61 To work with UoL and XJTLU colleagues to produce/advise on digital and traditional content for web, handbooks and social media.
61 Act as point of contact at XJLTU for the UoL recruitment team and China office to plan joint recruitment, refer recruitment enquiries, identify opportunities for collaboration and joint working.
61 To act as a UoL mobility point of contact for visitors to XJTLU.
Liaison and Networking
61 To attend weekly planning meetings with UoL colleagues, advising on changes within the student cohort, student motivations, concerns, and perceptions of the UoL, the 2+2/2+1+1 opportunities and life in Liverpool/the UK.
61 To provide weekly reports on application and withdrawal stats along with more nuanced intelligence from XJTLU and the student cohort to inform UoL planning and response.
61 Act as the Liverpool mobility contact for XJTLU HoDs / tutors in articulating and Year in Liverpool subject areas to provide advice and information on the mobility routes and contribute to the departmental meetings between XJTLU and UoL link tutors
61 To liaise with the XJTLU Career Development and Alumni Relations teams to obtain data and insight on graduate destinations and employment successes within the 2+2 and Taicang Year in Liverpool alumni.
61 To liaise with the UKVI and the Visa Application Centre to keep up to date with UKVI policy changes in order to advise students and Liverpool on the impact. Inviting the VAC Manager to XJTLU to present to students and arranging bespoke sessions to lodge visa applications at the Shanghai VAC.
61 To protect Liverpool and XJTLU’s reputation by having a deep knowledge of issues that could be perceived as political, sensitive, or non-compliant for either institution.
61 To liaise with the Student Affairs Office to understand key points in the student journey to inform communications for enquirers, applicants, parents and students at different stages.
61 To support and train SAO staff (especially recruitment staff and development advisors) to respond to queries from students and parents about the Liverpool mobility options facilitating appropriate communications with UoL colleagues
61 To support the VP Academic Affairs & Chief Officer of Ecology with UoL related projects at XJTLU
61 To support the VP Student Affairs and SAO colleagues with admissions and communications for Single Liverpool Award students
Processes and Infrastructure for the 2+2
61 To work with Registry colleagues to set up the infrastructure and processes to facilitate transfers to Liverpool on the 2+2 programme, confirming articulations, developing policy and FAQs, developing student communications and setting up the 2+2 application portal and statistical reports
61 To supply information for the XJTLU student handbook about the mobility options to Liverpool.
