Responsibilities 1.Be familiar with principles of laboratory health and safety regulations, maintain general tidiness, help ensure all teaching and research activities within the labs comply with government, University, School, Department safety polices. 2.Support designated academic staffs within Department with their research activities, including but not limited to the following: Operate, maintain and provide training for materials equipment including ball-milling and grinding machines, ovens, tubular and heat treatment furnaces (eg. SPS furnace), optical and electron microscopy etc; Assist academic staffs to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students; Assist academic staffs with consumable procurement, reimbursement etc. 3.Assist with the procurement, installation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Provide training for new users, perform testing and reporting for internal and external projects, especially assigned major equipment, and monitor the status on LIMS. 4.Support teaching practical regarding material science and engineering program for example CEN412 and CEN425. 5.Assist lab manager with requisitions and receives, stores, inventories chemicals, and laboratory supplies to ensure adequate stock for laboratory experiments. 6.Manage lab waste according to university policies, including classification, delivery. Manage the controlled chemicals according to university policies, including distribution, record, return etc. 7.Conduct daily and monthly Lab safety inspection, conduct safety risk assessment periodically, find solutions and perform preventive action accordingly. 8.Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required by Lab Manager and HOD.
1.Master’s degree or above in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramics or closely related fields. 2.Advanced expertise in synthesis and sintering of materials, advanced composite manufacturing, powder processing, XRD/SEM/EDS analyses, and mechanical characterization of materials. 3.Good written and spoken skills in Chinese and English. 4.Good time management, interpersonal and communication skills. 5.High sense of responsibility, good teamwork spirit and problem-solving capabilities. 6.Experience in supervising and managing students is highly desirable. 7.Excellent publication records in the field of engineering materials and fabrication is desirable. 8.Experience in writing scientific articles in the field of materials science is desirable.
